Read what parents are saying about Cleveland Elementary SchoolI went to this school when it first opened up again about 18 years ago. Since being an adult and having a daughter of my own, I have always seen this school at the top of my standards because of everything it provided at such an early age. Assuming it has the same programs now, the arts and science department gave me so much I never even got in middle school or high school. We were able to do real pottery on spinning wheels, orchestra, choir, theatre, science experiments with real microscopes and flasks, etc... The teachers were always amazing and I only wish my daughter could go to this school but I don't live in okc anymore. Just wanted to leave a comment from a real former Cleveland student that left with more passion about art, science, and learning than I think I ever would've had without going to this school. Thanks Cleveland!!! :)
Posted by a community member on 7/10/2016I'm a grandparent of two students at Cleveland. They have the best staff I think I've ever experienced. I love the music teacher, I love the principal, I love the man who teaches strings. We have been to many programs, visited classes & feel it is a model school. Parent involvement is the greatest. And think that might be the secret. I often come home to our hometown & relay some of the things I've seen that work & have a potential to work if we too use it. Sometimes they listen & sometimes they don't. One more person I didn't mention, the janitor. He's a joy.You can feel assured your child will receive a quality education & many mentors of character modeling at Cleveland. Can't say enough good things.
Posted by a community member on 5/30/2015My daughter is in first grade, and she adores her teacher. Actually she loves the art teacher, librarian, music, PE, and office staff, too! I have been very impressed with them as well. My child's reading and writing has improved considerably. The communication from the teacher, the administration, office staff, and the PTA has been great. The school has many partnerships within the art community, including Oklahoma Children's Theatre, El Sistema, and Oklahoma City University, that offer after school music and theatre lessons. The art, music, and PE teachers have wonderful programs, projects, and clubs throughout the year. The school is a Great Expectations model school, and the staff is enthusiastic and friendly. There are many fun events for the parents to get involved throughout the year. The school is small, but still diverse. We came from an Edmond school this year and could not be more impressed. Also, there is before and after school childcare. Really a great school!
Posted by a parent on 2/4/2014MY KIDS ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT SCHOOL! NOT JUST BASE CLASSES, BUT ALL EVENTS, AND OTHER ACTIVITIES. THE TEACHERS GENUINLY CARE -NOT JUST ABOUT THEIR CLASS, BUT ANY AND ALL STUDENTS & PARENTS THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH CLEVELAND. I SAY NO WHEREELSE IS CLEVELAND! BRAVO BULLDOGS!

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love Eugene Field. The teacher turnover is minimal which says a lot about a school. Every teacher our children have had are amazing. Extremely knowledgeable with academics but also child development. Our children have excelled in this environment. Such a wonderful community and multiple extra curricular activities.Parent Review1y ago - Gatewood Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had the privilege of completing a long-term sub job at Gatewood. The principal and staff were supportive and the programs in place to help the students achieve academically were outstanding. The character education was excellent as well. The comments on this page concerning bullying are confusing to me since I saw teachers take a strong stance in this area. It is a good little school - with the emphasis on little. I'm not sure who ever thought it was a good idea to close small schools in favor or elementary schools with a student population of 500 or more was misguided. The teachers at Gatewood know the students and work hard with both the students and the parents to make this a great school with tremendous community support.Other Review6y ago - Hawthorne Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAwful. They cannot keep teachers, new unqualified people every year attempting to teach. This year two teachers have quit outright. One teacher consistently cursed in class. Right now my 6th grader is staying in a 4th grade class because there is no 6th grade teacher. Daily work for my 6th grader now is write a 5 paragraph essay and then play on a computer for remainder of the day. Oklahoma city schools are pathetic.Parent Review6y ago - Linwood Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLinwood is a wonderful place. We've been so pleased. I'm gladly sending my two children there. Someday, 3! Right in the midst of the city, you can step onto the campus of this school and feel like it is it's own little community.Parent Review6y ago - Putnam Heights Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school leaders are dishonest and do not make sure students have the best teachers. There is bullying that is never taken care of. THey only try to hide what is wrong with the school instead of fixing it.Parent Review5y ago - Sequoyah Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is terrible. From the minute you walk in the door the secretary is rude, loud, and confrontational. Most of the teachers are tired, bitter, and angry. Non teaching staff is just as awful. Test scores are terrible every year. No surprise that this school received an "F" rating from the state.Other Review6y ago - Rosary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageChristy (Principal) treats her employees terribly. Staff is unprofessional, gossips and it gets back to the parents, very inappropriate. Confidential information about students and families is shared to other families and it gets back to the family being talked about. Another problem is bullying and harassment. Certain kids are blamed and they may not be the ones responsible, however, the faculty "labels" certain kids and decides they are problems. Certain kids are unpunished because their parents are at the school all of the time and have money. Disorganized and rules are not consistent, again it depends on who you are. The teachers are very mean and the school has fallen apart ever since the principal became Mrs. Harris. I would never send your kids here unless you want them to absolutely hate learning.Other Review1mo ago
