Posted by a parent on 2/6/2024I have had so many issues at this school since the first day ,first of all they told my child she couldn't eat lunch because she didn't have her badge or lunch money on the first day of school, than they suspend my 6th grader for defending his self because so boys are in his face calling him a monkey they gave him 5 days they have suspended my daughter about 5 times since August due to her having to defend herself because these kids can't keep they hands to there self and than they allow these teachers to scream in they face and cuss them out so please I repeat do not put your kids in this school they will harass them becsuse of the color of they skin and find many excuses to send them home and cover for the teacher ......

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids are third generation Comets. This year the school did a staffing overhaul from the principal all the way down to the bottom. There is only 1 teacher that started this year with less than 5 years experience. It’s a small country feel type school, everyone knows everyone, excellent racial diversity, and amazing staff. I recommend out of most Mid - Del Elementary schools, even above Soldier Creek.Parent Review1y ago - Del City Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal is nice, but ignorant of laws related to students with disabilities. It was a struggle to get supports in place, because the teacher dragged their feet submitting the paperwork for an IEP for my child with behavioral and learning disabilities, despite the request being made in writing on the first day of school, and they were chronically suspended or taken out of class for trivial offenses the entire year. Admittedly, my child had substantial conduct problems, but the teacher would not follow the 504 plan that took 6 months to get in place, and the principal backed the teacher every time. I felt bullied and shamed the entire school for my child's behavior, even though the kid was generally well behaved and did their work when the plan was being followed. This was our first any only year at this school, my child has had these problems since pre-K, and we have never had this much difficulty getting supports in place and having their behavior plan followed.Parent Review1y ago - Epperly Heights Elementary School
