Posted by a parent on 8/16/2016We have been at Parkview for 4 years and have nothing but positive things to say. Amazing staff, who actually care for their students and have a passion for their careers. I cannot say enough about how caring these educators are for their students. I haven't always had time to be a PTA member but I volunteer when work allows. Every year they have been very accepting and understanding of a busy schedule. This school has become a part of our family, we have had small bumps along the way, but nothing that was not quickly&properly handled.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal is nice, but ignorant of laws related to students with disabilities. It was a struggle to get supports in place, because the teacher dragged their feet submitting the paperwork for an IEP for my child with behavioral and learning disabilities, despite the request being made in writing on the first day of school, and they were chronically suspended or taken out of class for trivial offenses the entire year. Admittedly, my child had substantial conduct problems, but the teacher would not follow the 504 plan that took 6 months to get in place, and the principal backed the teacher every time. I felt bullied and shamed the entire school for my child's behavior, even though the kid was generally well behaved and did their work when the plan was being followed. This was our first any only year at this school, my child has had these problems since pre-K, and we have never had this much difficulty getting supports in place and having their behavior plan followed.Parent Review1y ago - Epperly Heights Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think this school is amazing. I didn't know much about it before my kids started attending. I honestly tried to get them in another nearby school but I'm happy with the way it worked out. One of my kids were mainstreamed and did very well and I've got 2 more on IEP's here. They improve every year. The principal is amazing and always willing to help and the teachers have always gone over and beyond the call of their duty. Wish everyone's experience was as good as mine has been.Parent Review7y ago - Townsend Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI feel very nervous sending my kids to school every single day. I don't feel as if they are safe anywhere on the grounds or even on the bus. I don't appreciate recess being taken away for talking AT LUNCH the kids need to be able to release at lunch and recess everyday. We will be moving our kids to a new school.Parent Review4y ago - Bodine Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs with any school, students do better when their parents are involved. There are always one or two parents who think school is a public daycare...those are the ones you only hear from when THEIR child becomes a problem that THEY don't want to deal with. Teachers are there to TEACH not babysit. That being said, MOST of the parents are GREAT. The teachers go ABOVE and beyond to support families and students. (Show me a child that's not showing progress at Bodine and i'll show you parents who aren't doing their part.)Teacher Review7y ago
