This school should be shut down. Everyday I hear stories of bullying and instead of helping the victim, they basically say to suck it up. Biases from authorities, frequent fights, and an environment where students dread coming to everyday. This is not how a school should be run. On top of being incredibly irresponsible, they are well aware of all their issues. During student evaluations, instead of allowing the students to say their true feelings and problems with the establishment, they told the students to lie. Why? Because they know if anyone else found out about these horrific conditions they're forcing the kids into, they'd be shut down immediately. If you love your children and don't want them to grow up insecure, confused, not to speak up, don't send them here.

We love PS 10! My kids transferred here last year and were immediately welcomed. The community, staff and Ms. Scott are all wonderful. The school offers such a wide range of programming that makes the school days exciting. There is no shortage of activities for the kids to get involved in such as music, chorus, cooking class and a robust after school programming with awesome classes. Some people say the school is enormous and has too many students but you don't see that and it truly feels like a smaller school. Some teachers are better than others and class sizes could be smaller.

My son came to PS 295 this year as a fifth grader. Our family moved from out of state, and we were a bit nervous about how his first year would go given the many changes he was facing. Now that the school year has ended, I am so grateful we found PS 295 and feel compelled to write a glowing review about our experience.My son made tremendous academic and social growth this year because his teachers are genuinely invested in the well-being and success of their students. He developed a love for new subjects and gained confidence in his ability to persevere and advocate for himself. He has told me that he feels respected by all of his teachers, which has inspired him to challenge himself and strive for even greater success.As a parent, I have also felt supported and respected by the staff, especially by his teachers and the parent coordinator. When I requested additional academic support and evaluation, my concerns were thoughtfully considered and addressed in a timely manner. Everyone makes themselves accessible, creating a welcoming environment that truly feels like a partnership.I would recommend PS 295 to any family looking for a smaller, community-focused, hands-on learning experience for their child.

I have two kids in the school this year and we absolutely adore it. It is not our zoned school and I am so glad we chose 124. It is a small school, which makes it feel like family. All the staff know my kids’ names and how to best engage them in learning. There is strong social-emotional support including free counseling through the CBO partner, Counseling in Schools. There is also low-cost extended care 3K-4K and free after school for K-5 through a partnership with YMCA. My children feel both challenged academically and safe in the school. There are many enrichment programs available as well including a full time art and music teacher as well dedicated science, social studies, and theater teachers; and external programs such as dance, improv, swimming, coding and Lego robotics, among others. Over the last two years, the school has shifted to incorporate more project- and play-based learning, recognizing that these are children and learning can take many forms, including how you interact with peers to strategize and solve math problems or read & write a story together.Of course every school has challenges, but it’s important to note that leadership is open to feedback and willing to work with individuals and families to best support them. The parent community is highly engaged, prioritizing family events over high priced galas and auctions. We love the diversity of the school — cultural, language, socioeconomic — as it reflects the broader NYC and global community. This is not something that can be said for other neighborhood schools. Unfortunately things have gone downhill a bit in the last couple years. Some of the best teachers have left, some of the current teachers really not up to par. Complaints to school administration are met with tepid responses. Their wonderful parent coordinator passed away last year and that leaves a gap that simply cannot be repaired, she was the glue holding many things together. Mostly white teachers with mostly BIPOC students. I would think twice about sending a neurodiverse student here too. They will continue to score well on exams because they teach aggressively for that but my kids experience of school this tear has been a disappointment. Counseling and psychology are good but not good enough to make up for the very low emotional intelligence of some of the teachers.

most teachers are great, the younger teachers are the best teachers honestly, good environment and everybody knows eachother, like all the high schoolers and middle schoolers all know each other regardless of their grade the kids here are very easy to befriend. Islam is taught very well but the one problem will be that the kids here as of now aren't the best and they do bad things and i'd say its just what this generation has become, the kids here are no better then public school and this is coming from a person who has went to public school for 10 years.
