Read what parents are saying about St. Joseph the Worker Catholic AcademyAn involved principal, who is also a parent and an educator, coupled with caring teachers and small class sizes make St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Academy an ideal elementary and middle school choice. The teachers are all very accessible to parents as well. The school is in a neighborhood that is very safe and conveniently located across the street from the F/G train, and a short ride from Prospect Expressway for those who don't live in walking distance. I've been very happy to have my son at school here since 4th grade. He's now in 7th, and I'm just sad that St. Joseph the Worker doesn't have a high school.
Posted by a parent on 4/3/2024As a parent of two children at Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Academy, I am extremely impressed with the school’s commitment to excellence. The teachers and staff give each child love and support. The principal is involved and creates clear lines of communication with families. The school is a welcoming community. We plan to have both kids complete pre-K through 8th grade- another added bonus! Both of my children look forward to attending school because of their classmates, the activities, and the amazing teachers. As working parents, we also appreciate the afterschool program and enrichment activities. We feel lucky to be part of the highly successful program at SJWCA!
Posted by a parent on 10/4/2023This school is terrible and I do not recommend it. There are much better schools in the area.
Posted by a parent on 3/14/2023SJWCA brings out the best in every student by tapping into each individuals strengths. The staff is caring and compassionate, and the standards set are stellar, in both their curriculum and their morals. The school is a second home to each and every one of the children. I highly recommend SJWCA.
Posted by a community member on 11/8/2022My son is in 6th grade and his third year at St. Joseph the Worker. We initially moved him here so he could experience full-time in person learning when other schools were completely remote or at best hybrid. What an amazing find! SJWCA has excellent teachers and a dedicated principal who genuinely care about each individual student.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePS 295 is an absolute gem - small, inclusive in all senses, warm and vibrant community. My kid is currently in K and we've been blown away by the skill and dedication of his teachers, and amazed all all he has learned in a few short months. My kid is young for his year, and struggles with anxiety and some fine motor delays. This kid was only scribbling over the summer, he is writing words and drawing self portraits now.The way PS 295 has met him where he is, truly connected with him, and is nurturing his growth is beyond my expectations of any school.Parent Review4mo ago - Ps 107 John W Kimball

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur three boys currently attend SSCA, under the effective leadership of principal Sue Walsh. The teachers are very well-qualified, responsive to the children (they "meet the kids where they are") and assign an appropriate / varying levels of homework. The small size of the very diverse student body (less than 400 kids from early childhood (3 years old) to eighth grade allows each student to know one another and to be known by the teachers/administrators. There are never any "back to school nerves" at our house! Excellent music program, afterschool enrichment classes + afterschool care available. Though we have very good public schools in the area, there is no comparison to the quality of what SSCA provides. Easy to access on F, G train (lots of kids travel on public transportation/school bus). Kids have time outside either in an "open streets" access or via a short walk to Prospect Park. Very devoted parents/alumni. Current 8th grade class has received a small fortune in scholarships to top Catholic + specialized high schools. A gem of a school. Check it out!Parent Review1y ago - Holy Name Of Jesus School
