Read what parents are saying about Langston Hughes SchoolI called for information on how to transfer my son out of the school since I moved out of the district and the Mr Walker who’s the principal was very nasty on the phone. He refuse to help me and made me feel less of a mother because my son went to charter school instead. I’m happy my son won’t be attending this school because I can only imagine the way he speak to the children, parents and staff. He don’t need to be working in that environment maybe he should get another profession where he don’t have to deal with people. Sorry for my rant but my first encounter was horrible.
Posted by a parent on 9/1/2022I'm a mother We'll I'm a mother of two sons who attend Langston Hughes school and my oldest son which is in middle school catch a bus to pick up his siblings after school and the principle treated him poorly. I'm VERY displeased with the principle Ms.Jackson. My son told me she is very nasty to him after she called him lazy he rather walk home and we pick my younger ones up because the principle is very rude to him. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and request a phone conference but conversation with her was like talking was very distasteful. She is very rude and show aggressive behavior and she work with kids?? she even tried to justify her reason for calling my son lazy. I will be going to the board and removing my boys from this school.
Posted by a parent on 1/7/2015Langston Hughes School is terrible but it could much better with a new principal. Ms.Jackson is so rude to parents and her staff. She talks down to everyone. She allows bullying and she does nothing about kids bullying each other. It's time for a change at Langston Hughes School.
Posted by a parent on 7/7/2014Mrs. Jackson and Ms. Tidwell....please retire already. They are rude and impolite to their own teachers. Mr. Edwards is not assertive enough with the students- he seems clueless. The students in the upper grades are out of control! The administrative team is weak and has no expectation for behavior- the kids even yell at them! they yell in the halls and fight frequently. I would never send my kids to this school. They are inconsistent with guidelines and requirements for the teachers...this in turn falls on the students.
Posted by a community member on 10/23/2013The teacher is working under pressure from the Principal. The staff is good but when the principal come around . The school needs a principal and a new vice principal, toh I almost forgot the staff in the office is unprofessional they say one thing and the broad of education says the right thing.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a great school, no parent should leave a child to sharpen their learning skills solely from what is taught by the teacher. I work with my son's teacher throughout the yr to reap grt results. Keep on keeping on Dionne Warwick!Parent Review7y ago - Ecole T Loverture School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDO NOT ENROLL your child here, my child is special Ed and been going here for about 3 years the issues started small. Next thing you know the staff started to mistreat my child. When confronted about certain incidents the principal doesn’t say anything, he jumps to his staff’s defense! The East Orange board of ed as well. I noticed they all cover & look out for each other and not the children. You can bring them proof black and white and still nothing. I have pending complaints against the principal & staff at this time there’s pending investigations with the board of ed. I even did a consult with an attorney due to this. I had a personal conference with the school about concerns and one of them went and told the teacher the complaint was about & she confronted my daughter during music class, embarrassed and totally had her intimidated. When I went to the school to ask why this happened principal Jacob said nothing and put me out the office. Long story short skip this school!!!!! THANK ME LATER!!Parent Review1y ago - Cicely Tyson Com Elementary School
