St Clare Elementary School

Both of my children had a great experience at JHWMS. They use a group approach so your child will have the same 4 core teachers as everyone else in the group, it makes the school seem a little smaller. Music programs are excellent. There is a choice of 3 languages and this class is taken every day. My high schooler is now in all honors classes and got a good foundation here.

We love Spring Garden! The teachers are incredibly dedicated and my child comes home happy and curious. The PTA is very involved and there are plenty of family opportunities. Every spring they do a Strawberry Festival which is a pop up carnival in the big field out back. I wish there was more racial diversity across teachers and staff but they do a good job on introducing holidays that aren’t only based in Christianity. We are very happy with our experiences! You are lucky if you are zones for SGS!

Very nice school and great academics. My daughter attended kindergarten last year (and loved every minute of it) and will start first grade this fall. We love the school and the town. Mrs L was amazing. Thank you.

Lincoln School is an amazing school. The principal is one hundred percent involved. She knows all the children's names. The teachers go above and beyond and they'revery supportive. I know this because all three of my boys attended the school. When my boys needed extra help, they were able to come in early or stay after school. The parents were also very involved.

We love this school. The principal is a phenomenal leader who reinforces and instills the values of kindness, respect and responsibility. The school is the model school for the PBSIS (Positive Behavior Support in Schools) which is a collaboration between the New Jersey Department of Education Office of Special Education and The Boggs Center, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The teachers are organized, responsive and believe in the importance of the parent/teacher collaboration and from kindergarten support a life-long love of learning. The parent teacher organization is active and supports numerous field trips/assemblies for the students. Our child is thriving at this school and we love the small class size/amazing neighborhood close to the library/playground.

I appreciate that my child is learning about the Lord at school. Attending a public school was a nightmare with the teachers' and principals' lack of support, so having a new beginning at ALA is a Godsend. However, I am concerned with whether teaching is up to par with competing schools and state standards. Not all the teachers are certified or have even attended college to teach so the strategies are lacking as well as understanding the methods of teaching, reteaching, and meeting students where they are. There needs to be a bigger push on academics and possibly having students rewarded by being inducted into the Junior Honor Society to motivate and encourage young learners.Another concern is the high teacher turnover rate and the administrative team's lack of supervision in supporting their teachers' needs. Lastly, it is a Christian school and the superintendent is wonderful. I hope he is closely assessing where ALA can step up and become a reputable Christian school known for its academic rigor and development of future leaders.
