Halls Ferry Elementary School

The Principal (Ms. Martin) and Assistant Principal (Mr. Wright) have been amazing with assisting the children and addressing parent concerns. They take the time to involve themselves with each kid in their care. They know student by name and can also speak directly with parents concerning the needs of their individual student without having to consult with the teacher or look in a file. They team with teachers to provide them with support as well. They also have different hands on programs to assist children who are struggling with different subjects or assessments. They make these children feel elite and special, as oppose to approaching them as failing and unresponsive children. They are very hands on and it shows in how the kids light up when they see them. The office staff are a bit challenging though, some days they are friendly, other days not so much. Communication is a bit abrasive but I don’t think it’s meant in a malicious manner. They also make it a point to know students by name and assist them as well. Their passion shows through from that perspective. Overall, Commons Lane is a great school for students to excel in learning with a touch of the nurturing care they are custom to receiving at such a young age.

This school is terrible noncimmunication. No wonder it has only 3 stars and shouldn't have that many . I couldn't wait to get my daughter out this school it wasn't challenging enough either . My daughter now goes to barrington in hazelwood and loves it and is thriving .

I love the idea of this school, however I think similarly to the "big school" that the "little school" should move into the digital age regarding tuition and communications. Every Comm that comes from this school is hodge- podge and confusing. I hate writing a check every month and dropping it off in a mailbox wading through 100+ kids in the morning when attempting to drop my child off. Enrollment is all paper; I find that kind of annoying. The big school communicates via emails and teacher/school websites. Don't let my annoyances damper you from sending your child here, its a great school but I find the waste of trees and almost non existent understand communications frustrating.

This school is terrible my cousin goes here and this school is so painful with the students and drama and work is getting just overall behind in 3rd i was writing paragraphs and they just started in 5th actually writing paragraphs. 1 star

The school has had many changes in staff over the years. The school has not been the same since Mr. Moor (Previous Principal) left. The Teacher's don't seem to care about the student's. Communication from Teacher's and the current Principal are poor. Children are disciplined for petty things but big issues, like student's falling behind academically are overlooked. The curriculum is not challenging and Teacher's are stuck in the traditional catholic teaching style. Not worth paying for.
