St. Juliana Elementary School

The building itself is clean. The hallways are colorful, inviting, and student friendly. The office staff was welcoming. The principal is working hard to continue to make effective changes at the school that truly have the students in mind!

This school is horrible. My children went to the school one year. They will never be back ever. I will never recommend this school to anyone for their children at all. My nephew have been stabbed in the abdomen with a pencil. Nothing was done. His hair has been cut. They cut plugs on his hair. Nothing was done that him, and his twin have been jumped and they’re only in the first grade by a first grader and his siblings that are in I believe the third grade 4th grade My Son has been jumped multiple times at this school and nothing has been done. My oldest nephew have been jumped at this school and nothing has been done. This school is terrible. you can’t get in there to talk when you need to. They have adults fighting up at the school. My nephew was hitting the face with the golf club. I wouldn’t recommend my dog to go to this school if I had a cat that either this school needs a new staff new principal just a whole remaking and like I said this is my children’s first year in a school in Detroit, but this school they will never ever go to ever again. I couldn’t get past the screen without giving them at least one star if it was left up to me, they would’ve had no stars so they got good with getting that.

Uniform policies are not enforced. There is no consequence for tardies or skipping class. There is no consequence for sexual harassment. Threats of violence are a daily occurrence. Fights are normal and expected at least a few times a week. There is no consequence for having your phone out in the hallway, the classroom, or anywhere really.Special education services are very limited. There are only a handful of IEPs in the entire school. The library is a tragically under supported. The books are thrown everywhere and students often use the area to skip class and socialize. Laptops are provided on a 1-to-1 basis in most classes. Smartboards are in most classes. The lunchroom and gym areas are small. There are sinks and bathrooms in every classroom. There are classes for dance, band, drama, and art.

This school use to be a great school i have three kids that attended this school but i gave this school so many chances and i have now removed my two younger kids the school has really just went completely down this wasn't even my kids neighborhood school but i was driving my kids here anyway because it was a great school the administration changes is what really brought the school down the great teachers have left tge classrooms are still overcrowded my neice and nephew still attend here and they have horror stories on how out of control the classrooms are now my son who is now a 7th grader wasn't learning alot last year now at his new school he is struggling to adjust in some classes where he use to be a straight A student that goes to tell you how much he learned at Ronald Brown in 6th grade my previous reviews were removed from this site i guess they don't want people to know the truth.

I love this school. The principal is caring and knows a lot about teaching kids. The staff works hard and cares about the students. The parents are very involved.
