Transferring here from Detroit for "better resources" was the biggest mistake of my life. As an African American, I’ve found that no amount of funding justifies a culture of open hostility.The environment is exclusionary and dehumanizing. If you are not Arab or do not speak the language, you are treated as an outsider. I am frequently subjected to racial slurs in hallways and classrooms, but the most disturbing part is the administration.The staff and Principal are not ignorant; they are indifferent. They witness this behavior and choose to look the other way, effectively endorsing the harassment. Teachers here seem to be for a paycheck, not for the safety of all students.Warning: To any Black students or families considering this school—stay away. You cannot learn in "survival mode" while the people in charge refuse to protect your dignity. The resources here are not worth the cost to your mental health

Since the new principal everything at Haigh has gone bad. No parent communication, does not respong to emails. You do not feel welcomed when entering in the office. I had some concerns with my daughter so I emailed the principal, no response! My daughter comes home almost every day complaining that she doesn't learn anything and the teachers don't listen to them. They just don't care!

I have been a teacher at Howard for the last 8 years, and I honestly love it here! The school is truly a community. The teachers all care so much about the students and they work together to support each other seamlessly. The support staff works around the clock to provide services for students and help classroom teachers. The principal has a clear vision for the school and leads with empathy to make sure that every staff member, student and parent works together to achieve the highest outcomes possible. Every staff member takes safety very seriously and stays up to date on the latest protocols and procedures. There are also plenty of fun activities planned by the PTA and Howard committees that include Howard families into the school community. I truly love it here so much that I will be sending my son to Kindergarten at Howard in the fall!

During the time my children attended the school as toddlers and preschoolers, I loved the school, and they thrived. Because of the Montessori philosophy of education, they learned many self-help skills that allowed them to be more independent.When my children became elementary school students, I noticed a sharp decline in their academics. At first, I had hope that the multi-aged classrooms would give my children the chance to work at their current level and advance as they needed. After seeing little progress, I pulled them out. My lower elementary student (1-3) didn't recognize a lower case "g". My upper elementary student (4-6) barely knew math multiplication facts and could barely write a paragraph. After testing, I discovered they were 6 months to a year behind in multiple academic areas. They are now in public school and receiving services in order to catch up.Waste of money. Waste of time. The toddler and preschool programs are great, but stop after preschool and go somewhere for a quality education.

The thing is, this place is great, but it's not like the #1 place. Place is connected to church, way better than my old one, but they're currently trying to make a play, and forcing me to sing a solo I don't want to do. Overall, not that bad.
