Read what parents are saying about Anchor Bay Middle School SouthGreat school. Student to teacher ratio great. Need more focus on updating building. Overall great place to send your kids.
Posted by a community member on 3/20/2016Anchor bay schools are above average While the student to teacher ratio is acceptable the facility is dated. Middle school south used to serve as the high school. Anchor bay has built a new high that according to google is the third largest in the country in terms of square footage. The school system does have excellent extra curriculars. The band program is one of the tops in the state and sports programs have excellent facilities even though outcomes aren't the best. Community involvement throughout the school system is splendid. This is a public school so it does have it's share of issues but the students are well watched after. I have just had a son who graduated and can say I am happy to have had him in this school district
Posted by a parent on 6/8/2014It's ok but some of the people can really annoy you and the teachers can at time but its a good hearted school. But there is a big bully problem that should be solve ASAP And you can make friends there but they can kind of mess up your focus in class. They also need to take things to a more serious level including the teachers. The teachers spend to much time talking about other stuff they seem to get off task a lot. But i think that the school needs to be re modeld it looks really old inside I mean the school is like 40 years old and the bathrooms need to get re done really bad. And wensday should be an early release day. Well i hope someone from the school sees this.
Posted by a community member on 8/1/2013This school is amazing. The teachers are super understanding and kind. I also think the "dot system" is a great dicipline system, almost like the "three strikes and you're out" saying. They know how to handle difficult situations well, although they have a bit of a bully problem. :/

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal came from the high school, and doesn't seem to embrace early childhood education. Poor art and music programs. No concerts for the kids until they're in older grades, no treats for Halloween or birthdays allowed to be brought in, no Halloween costumes after 2nd grade. Bottom line, no fun. Academically fine, but the extras are missing. The stuff that makes school memorable. The prior principal is sorely missed!Parent Review11y ago - Lighthouse Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 2 kids here. One in upper elementary and one in lower and we've been lucky enough to have had great teachers throughout. I've preferred some over others, but that would be anywhere! I also wanted to mention that the principal that is mentioned in some older reviews is no longer there. We had a new principal come in, in 2013/2014; also the office staff (that is mentioned below) has changed over as well :) The one improvement that I would really like to see is Technology-but that is across the entire district.Parent Review6y ago - Dean A. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOverall I am happy with Naldrett Elementary School. I’ve only had an issue with one teacher (who, in my opinion, needs to retire from teaching). Other than that, we’ve had a great experience thus far. I feel my concerns have been addressed and that our family is a valued part of the school community.Parent Review11mo ago - Lottie M. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI just love when they have the "Santa Secret Shop". I'm a crafter and am so excited to see all those happy children with smiles on their faces. The PTO ladies are very friendly and also helpful to make that day Special. I hope they have this event this year. Maggie barnesOther Review8y ago - Francis A. Higgins Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere are a handful of really good teachers here.My only issue, and it’s a big deal to me- They do not like parent involvement. I’ve asked multiple times to volunteer and am giving the same answer from the principal. I am told it’s up to the teacher. I’ve asked the teachers and they change the subject. In the school that my children attended prior I was able to rotate being in each child’s classroom weekly for half a day. Parents are not your enemy. We love our children and want to be part of their education.Parent Review1y ago
