Green Acres School

Me and my daughter moved from PG county and so far, my experience has been great. They have a good curriculum especially when she was in 3rd grade her teacher was very proactive to keep these kids on their toes. She is in fourth grade now and doing well let's see how the year will end.

I've had the pleasure of watching my child grow from a young student to a confident fifth grader at this amazing school. What I love most is the strong sense of community - we know each other, bump into each other in the neighborhood, and even swim together! The after-school programs are fantastic, and my family has learned so much about diversity, empathy, and social issues. My child will grow up understanding and appreciating differences. The teachers are caring and dedicated, and the nurse is particularly special - she genuinely prioritizes the kids' safety and well-being. I'm grateful for this school and the values it's instilling in my child.

What a sham. Subpar education, all the good teachers/staff left, JDS can’t keep them. How your child is treated depends on how involved/connected you are. If you aren’t volunteering, working, donating etc to the school your child will be a second class citizen. Forget about trying to get the school to help you if you want to move classes or make changes, the automatic go-to response for any concerns is gaslighting parents by saying everything is great no problems. If your kid gets bullied ( which is a MASSIVE problem) they don’t do anything. Again go-to gaslight routine. Absolutely worst school ever. Nothing good there. We only went because of discount and I can’t wait to get my kids out.

10 years ago, we found White Flint Children’s House for our oldest daughter. She immediately liked the place and had three wonderful years there. She developed strong reading and math skills and also made friends that she still spends time with. Now our two younger children are also in WFCH. During COVID, we saw the loss of some teachers and programs, but the school has rebuilt most of them in the last year or so. Our 6 year old is in the kindergarten program. The teachers and the programs helped her overcome the social-emotional challenges brought on by COVID, and gain the same confidence and strong academic skills her sister had. Our 2 year old has been in the toddler program since he was 18 months, and also seems to really enjoy the company of his teachers and friends. Ms Margaret, the head of the school is the most dedicated teacher / administrator I have ever met! The school also has a very diverse student body and many kids with multiracial / multicultural background. We believe that 3-6 years are the most critical years in a person’s development, and we feel lucky to have found WFCH for our kids.

St. Elizabeth Catholic School provides a truly strong foundation for both academic success and personal growth. What stands out most is its emphasis on faith, values, and character- students are encouraged not just to excel in the classroom, but to be kind, respectful, and thoughtful individuals. There’s a genuine sense of community, and it’s clear that shaping good people is just as important as strong academic outcomes.Academically, the standards are high and students are challenged in a supportive environment. Teachers are dedicated, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping each child succeed. Classrooms feel structured yet encouraging, and students are motivated to do their best.The school is also very safe and welcoming, with strong communication between staff and families. Parents are included and valued as partners in their children’s education, which makes a big difference.One area for improvement would be additional in-house resources for students who need extra support, such as those with ADHD. While the school does provide support, it is often outsourced, which can sometimes make access less seamless for families.Overall, St. Elizabeth is a wonderful school that nurtures both the mind and the character of its students. I would absolutely recommend it to families looking for a values-based education with strong academics.
