Read what parents are saying about Greenbelt Middle SchoolThis school sucks the staff treats students Mr. Clement is a bad principal they don't care about your mental health and the food sucks half of the time it's cold and I find hair and roaches in it the amount of work teachers give students is crazy and they expect you to do it in one day the students lie about each other talk about each other and they are crazy in general being a student at gms I have experienced all these things.

Posted by a community member on 6/8/2023This school is a very bad place to send your students to. I have been here since 6th-8th grade, and we just keep getting disappointed. Although the principal or teachers may act nice in your face. In reality, they are rude just how the students are. Throughout the school I seen how one of the teachers handle the special education students roughly. I am never excited to learn at school, because we learn about the same thing every single day! The curriculum is bad, and the teachers are plain right lazy. This school would be good if your child was in TAG. But the rest of the classes are not good enough. Some teachers are actually reasonable and give you reassurance, while others are just plain rude. And it's most of the teachers here, even the principal's! They complain about the dress code, having a hood on or hat, but doesn't take a thought if something is going on with them today. The therapists/gudiance are complete trash. Your children will definitely not be safe at this school. Towards the beginning of the year, someone brung a gun and they never found out. Till the person used it on another student. The school reaches out to the family sometimes, but at a short notice. There are very sexist teachers here. Please if you just moved here, here's a suggestion. PUT THEM IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS!!! Or somewhere else but here. Mr. Clement isn't worth anything but nickels! The schedule advisor's do not help you at all. So now my daughter is stuck being in class with people that make her uncomfortable. And my daughter has gotten ISS (In School Suspension) just for using the bathroom! This is unacceptable!

Posted by a parent on 11/21/2022This school is mid. Some teachers were disrepectful to some students. The principal never really has anything nice to say. The bathroom are always vandilized and they don't have any vegan free snacks.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat community, and the teachers administrators and counselors are unbelievably involved. They use up to date teaching methods. (I can tell, because none of them existed when I was in school.) I wish recess were a lot longer, but I guess that's a county-wide problem.Parent Review7mo ago - Hollywood Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMagnolia used to be a great school. But unfortunately they have succeeded in creating confusion in my son's head, affecting his self-confidence. Some of the teachers seem to have no idea of pedagogy.Other Review2y ago - Paint Branch Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI want to give fair warning to parents who are considering placement here for the autism program. I didn’t have a problem with the special educators themselves, but the assistants were variable in quality; some are gems, and some do not belong in a setting with vulnerable children. In retrospect, my child was communicating that they did not like one of them. I wish I had fully understood at the time. This school’s biggest challenge is its administration – don’t underestimate their ability to make your life hard! If you bring up more than a small issue or two, you become branded a problem parent and they display a wagon-circling attitude towards you - lots of denial, blame, ignoring, and gaslighting. My kid was having real challenges in the classroom environment. Because of admin attitude, many interactions were needlessly confrontational. It was hard to collaborate because I was constantly hitting brick walls and treated as an adversary. The special education coordinator bullied me but only when she wasn't observable by people above her. She made basic errors in her knowledge of special education law, but she also made sure she used phone calls rather than emails to communicate when she knew she was skirting the law.My kid has a speech delay and cannot tell me about their day. I often wonder what they encountered there that bothered them but they cannot tell me. Not just through how they treated me, but sickening specifics that I am keeping vague for this public forum. My kid is now done with this school! At the school my child attends now, *everyone* is kind, professional, and treats me as an important member of the team. It is so much easier to problem solve when issues pop up. My child is flourishing because of the new environment, and they have made so much progress since leaving PBES. It's night and day.If you absolutely must send your kid to this autism program, I recommend making sure you are knowledgeable about special education regulations. It’s good to know regardless, but you will need it here - you cannot trust the administration to do the right thing. It would be worth reading over your procedural safeguards again and getting some support, you will need it if/when things aren't smooth. Make sure you’re paying attention to your child’s communication and take their concerns seriously, however they communicate. And finally, always send follow-up email summaries of your phone conversations! Document everything!Parent Review1y ago - Al-Huda School
