Read what parents are saying about John Ruhrah Elementary SchoolWonderful teachers, but waiting for the new building to begin construction. It is frankly shameful that the students and the wonderful teachers who put their time and their own resources into educating said students, have to come to school and try to learn in a crumbling and unhealthy environment. It reflects on how the students and staff and faculty see themselves; and that is undervalued.
Posted by a community member on 11/23/2014I have 3 children attending this school and I like it very much the teachers and staff are super good and very understandable on anything that concern parents. The reason why I give it 4 stars is because I will like to see more after school programming for the English speaking children as much as they have for the Spanish speaking children!Dont get me wrong i think it's fantastic that the school has a alot if help for the none speaking Spanish students, and I am Hispanic with non Spanish speaking children and I think they should have the same right as everyone else!!

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son was bullied, traumatized and physically abused at this school, and several teachers knew about everything he was put through and just turned a blind eye, and at one point even purposefully brushed an attack on my son under the rug and wasn't even going to call me and tell me. My son was verbally abused and threatened on a regular basis and at one point I finally had to call the police and file a report and remove my son from the school.Teachers are lazy, complacent, and just plain BAD at their jobs. Do not send your child to this school.Parent Review1y ago - Highlandtown Elementary #237

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm a teacher at Highlandtown 237, and I find that working here is a positive and rewarding experience. The teachers are excellent, and that's a testament to the hiring ability of the administration. School leaders are very open and honest with the staff, and there is a genuine sense of caring and a friendly professional relationship in the building. Most students are willing and eager to learn, and I've enjoyed being a part of this community. I feel supported and while there will always be some difficulties, I wouldn't trade it for anything.Teacher Review3y ago - Holabird Elementary

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe administration does not care about the safety or well-being of students or staff. Bullying, harassment, and assault are rampant with no consequences for those engaging in the behaviors.Teacher Review5mo ago - Patterson Park Public Charter School
