Read what parents are saying about Hampstead Hill Academy5 stars! HHA is a gem of a school. Outstanding community that cares about its kids.
Posted by a parent on 7/5/2020This is a school that cares about its people-- students, teachers, staff, and parents. The leaders are approachable. It’s a sunny neighborhood school where kids are really eager to come to class and make friends. The award-winning principal is a long-time leader. It’s small enough that you know many by name and large enough to have many after-school activities, including theater and clubs (sports are not the focus). Curriculum is direct-instruction, make use online platforms to supplement in-class learning, and keeps up with standards. Class sizes are often 30+. The teachers are very motivated. The school earns high marks from Maryland State Dept of Ed and serves a diverse community. A large park’s green space is a great resource and used by classes. During the pandemic, the school made efforts to keep everyone engaged. HHA is part of city schools and has some flexibility in its budgeting, as its operator is non-profit Baltimore Curriculum Project, and the PTO is active! My child loved the elementary years and is in the honors middle school program.
Posted by a parent on 6/7/2020My grandson has flourished in his first year at this school. I appreciate the varied resource classes and the structured curriculum in the academic area. The staff is supportive and friendly, and the students appear engaged. There is strong outreach into the community as well.
Posted by a parent on 6/11/2018Excellent school all 3 of my kids have attended this school the oldest 2 graduated to get scholarships to High school and one of the oldest have gone to college on a full 4 year ride. I found Hampstead Hill back in the early 2000's and sending my kids to this school was the best decision i made. Today i have 1 kid left attending Hampstead Hill following his brother n sister foot steps. Hampstead Hill is safe, clean, and the staff and teacher's are grear. Mr.Hornbeck has been the principal of this school over 15 years and he is in charge on keeping this school great.
Posted by a parent on 9/1/2017We moved here in September, and my daughter adjusted exceeding well for being the new kid on campus. She's maintained a 4.0 throughout the year, and felt encouraged both at school and at home. We adore her teachers, specifically Ms. Locke. I will encourage parents to be involved; join the PTO, volunteer your time, get to know the staff, and maintain an open line of communication.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWolfe Street Academy has been an excellent experience for our two children in 2016/17. Mr Gaither's active and hands-on leadership is very inspiring to students & parents alike. Ms Gross (3rd) & Ms Bucke (3rd) are amazing teachers who keep tabs on student's academic progress & wholesome development. The admin & support staff are welcoming and always helpful. There is an excellent (free) after school program. The kids are well behaved & friendly. The school does not have dedicated sports facilities but Mr Mavis makes good use of the multi-use hall for indoor sessions and the nearby Patterson Park is used for outdoor sports. It is unfortunate the hard-work of this great team is not reflected in the Test Scores due to the demographics of Fells Point, many of the students are from families that do not speak English as a first language.Parent Review5y ago - Highlandtown Elementary #215

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son was bullied, traumatized and physically abused at this school, and several teachers knew about everything he was put through and just turned a blind eye, and at one point even purposefully brushed an attack on my son under the rug and wasn't even going to call me and tell me. My son was verbally abused and threatened on a regular basis and at one point I finally had to call the police and file a report and remove my son from the school.Teachers are lazy, complacent, and just plain BAD at their jobs. Do not send your child to this school.Parent Review1y ago - Tench Tilghman Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have been trying to enroll my grandchildren for two weeks and have been running into a brick wall with this secretary and she had me get shots for my older grandchild saying she needed them to start school. Turns out that she didn’t need them until next year! She isn’t very efficient and appears to be very lazy!,Parent Review4y ago - William Paca Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe administration does not care about the safety or well-being of students or staff. Bullying, harassment, and assault are rampant with no consequences for those engaging in the behaviors.Teacher Review4mo ago - Patterson Park Public Charter School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHave been at St Casimir School and this school is a gem. If you live in Baltimore City this school will keep you living in the city. The principal is wonderful. Mrs. Heffner - she knows all the parents, all the students by name, is always present and active at all school events. The teachers are caring, loving yet firm. The school community is very tight knit. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this school has been for our family. Kids are confident, happy and love school and learning, The school has a long history in Baltimore city with a beautiful church for mass services that students are encouraged to do readings for. The location in Canton makes opportunities for community activities and field trips very accessible.Parent Review2y ago
