Read what parents are saying about Central Schoolsome the kids at this school are very materialistic, there are a few groups of nice kids but bullying happens alot. i am in 8th grade and i see people struggling every day and the kids can be very nasty. i have a very good group of friends but the majority of kids can be mean. i like the academics and teachers are very good. overall i have had a good experience
Posted by a student on 1/20/2023While I'm sure there is room for improvement, and I'm sorry to hear that some students are struggling at Central, I have to disagree with the comments about Central having a weak math program. We've had two kids go through Central, one was naturally good in math - went on to do well in math at highly competitive New Trier High School. The other child had some learning issues, we took advantage of 'math assist,' 'study skills,' and the time that the math teachers give before and after school Our 'special needs' student ended up getting into 'honors' (3rd) level math at New Trier, based on end of 8th grade test performance - which was compared to students from other New Trier feeder schools - such as Wilmette and Winnetka.
Posted by a parent on 3/23/20155 star rating is too high for this school. Math instruction is weak. If you send your kid there you might want to have an outside tutor at the ready before they have to test for the high school and get surprised that they are testing too low to be placed into a regular class vs. remedial. Catches lots of parents off guard. Cliques rule-- if you are "not from Glencoe" dont expect to fit in anywhere -- parents or kids. If you are not in the majority religion dont expect to fit in. All true.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is our 6th year at Sacred Heart and finally we have all 4 kids attending. The small class environment and community of parents with a common thread has been beneficial for both our children and us as parents. The teachers enthusiasm and skill has allowed each of them to be active participants in class and love learning; every year my daughters cry on the last day and then in July start asking "How many weeks until school starts?" My non-catholic husband was a skeptic at first and was sold on the full day Kindergarten. Two months into the school year he knew we would spend the next 16 years at Sacred Heart. He is now a member of the School Board and will be the President next year. Demographically, we are not varied, but we do give back to other communities and teach our children that philanthropy and action are necessary. Whether it's standing in the cold collecting donations for the food bank, or bringing the food TO the South Side food bank, packaging food at Feed My Starving Children as a group, or packaging toys and clothes for kids in need at Cradles to Candles, the parents at Sacred Heart make it a priority to help others. We are not a school of parents with our heads in the sand. We come from different backgrounds, but our values, often faith driven but not always, are a common thread in raising selfless kids with integrity. It starts at home, but Sacred Heart rounds it out. I cannot imagine a better school for my kids to grow up in. It's been a monumental influence of positivity in their lives and a family for all of us.Parent Review4y ago - North Shore Country Day School
