Excellent Middle school for my kids. I have seen my kids grow in a positive way as the school gives space to share their thoughts and also brings positivity in them.

Badly summarizes it pretty accurately. Now don't get me wrong, you could do a lot worse with school. After all, NSCDS still gets good academic performance. But those other schools don't cost 30k or whatever. In summary, if all you care about is getting your kid in the best college possible, regardless of anything else, NSCDS may be for you. If you want your kid to develop into an actual good person, look far elsewhere.

100% the best option of schooling I could have ever had. My life at North Shore feels valued and cared for. Each administrator, peer, and teacher knows my name and has my best interest in mind. There is truly no better place for individual learning that develops your entire character.

I have a junior at the school. He entered the school as a freshman and was welcomed and instantly made to feel part of the community. I was too as a parent. He has had an amazing experience at the school. When he entered, he was a typical teenage boy with his focus not always entirely on his school work. The teachers and staff was patient with him and he has matured a lot since then. The benefit of a smaller school, like NSCD is that the students are treated as individuals. He has made some great friends that come from diverse backgrounds. He is very happy with his experience. We are also very happy with the teachers, the fellow parents and the leadership of the school. It is a very professionally run school with a warm, personal touch.

I have a graduate and have kids currently at the school. The school does an excellent job of preparing kids for college. The student body is diverse (more so than the local public schools) and the kids are challenged to advocate for themselves and to challenge themselves. There is no where to hide here. Our children are known and challenged to learn every day. The language program is excellent. The theater and arts are mandatory. The math and science curriculum is challenging. No school is perfect. But if you have an issue, bring it forward and the administration will address it. I believe this is the best education you can find in Chicago.
