Posted by a community member on 10/25/2022Stay away from this place. They must think that because 98% of their students are Latino and economically disadvantaged, they can mistreat the kids and the parents. Most of the office staff is rude. They’ve had several changes in administration over the past two years, and they still can’t get it together. Teachers are bullies, kids are bullies; and nothing is done by the principal. The teachers must be laughing at the principal because they sure do get away with many things such as berating kids, changing grades to teach kids a lesson, making up assignments, not grading work that was turned in,etc. Kids can get away with bullying here. Kids have sexually harassed kids at this school and have gotten away with it. You know the Tribune article about abuse? Well, look up Saucedo, but be aware that there are many many many more incidents that do not appear on that data base. They promote values that do not jive with those of good Christian families, or just any families with values. The support staff yells at the families and there are no consequences for them. Walk by this school in the morning and afternoons and you will get an icky vibe. This is how minorities are treated and this is how you run down a school. The music program might be the only half way decent program at the school. If you want a great school for your child do not bring them here. You will regret it, just like I do. No wonder parents are leaving Saucedo by the droves! I am transferring my child out!
Posted by a parent on 7/22/2018The school has help my children after difficulties at the start of the school year. My kids teacher have been very helpful and understanding, however the administration have no structure in communicating changes and issues that affect the school, children and parents.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been in this school for 7 yrs. This is a really nice school. I love the after-school programs and the teaching. The only thing I dislike is the food. My child has told me that he has gotten rotten apple and expired milk! One time the chicken was even raw! I feel like the only thing they have to work on is the food.Parent Review1y ago - Hammond Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePoor school with bullying problems. Students sit on laptops doing computer programs alone for hours a day. Internet program IXL teaches the students, not the teachers. New admin is white in a Hispanic school. It's a mess.Parent Review2y ago - Spry Elementary Community School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child is in her second year in the school. She has loved her teachers and they do a lot of social emotional learning as well as academics. The school has many cultural events. Most of the students are Mexican American and my kid loves those events. Because she's not Mexican, they also accomodate her to observe and teach about our cultural customs. The Special Education is especially strong. Many surrounding schools push out disabled students to raise test scores. But Telpochcalli accepts all students and supports them. The curriculum is not only about academics, but helps students feel love and support for themselves and others with disabilities. The multilingual program is strong. It starts from Pre-K but you can enter at any time and they have special classes to catch you up if your kid is coming from a monolingual schools.Parent Review1y ago
