Posted by a community member on 10/11/2021The staff teachers and students are one big family. Anytime I have been to the school it is evident that anytime I have been to the school it is evident that The students love all of their teachers, counselors, administration staff, the school secuirty and the custodial staff. One of the things I was most touched by when inside the school was that if not for the attire of the staff memebers, an outside would never know the difference between the educational staff memebers and the custodial/assisstiant/other members of the schools staff. I think This shows the amount of respect and appreciation back to school as a whole has for each and every person with in the school whether it be a student or an adult. there is no hierarchy system in place because there is no need for one when everyone works together loves one another and treat eachother as equals. The students are so lucky to have such an amazing and dedicated group of workers surrounding them. The school deserves a lot more recognition for their harmonious rapport and family-centered approach to education
Posted by a community member on 2/10/2017My daughters attend Hammond School since Kindergarten. I do not why two parents posted negative reviews about this school. When I go to pick up my daughters, I see a lot of security and the main street is closed for traffic. My daughters have learned a lot and are happy at Hammond. I have great communication with teachers and administrators. It is a small school and that is better because teachers know every child.
Posted by a parent on 9/10/2011im very happy with Hammond School. My sughter has been there for the past 2 school years and the teachers really helped her with the high school application process. Im proud to say she graduated and is going to Lane Tech , along with 3 other classmates. Many of her friends are also going to various different high schools next year. The teachers I dealt with were very nice and caring. she was also a part of the after school algebra program and passed the test to receive high school credit for algebra. Being at Hammond was a great experience for her and as a parent.
Posted by a parent on 6/22/2011I have children at Hammond. I am happy with their teachers and school in general. My son's teacher has made sure to challenge my son and knows how to keep him engaged. My kids have all tested well and will qualify to test for the selective enrollment schools in a few years. I owe that to the excellent teachers at Hammond School who have dedicated themselves to our children in a neighborhood that could use some improvement.

The only thing I dislike is the food. My child has told me that he has gotten rotten apple and expired milk! One time the chicken was even raw! I feel like the only thing they have to work on is the food.Parent Review1y ago - Johnson Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot impressed at all by this school. The academics here are not rigorous. Test scores are horrible. My kids need extra help with handwriting, composition, and math. Homework is optional so the kids feel like they don't have to do it. Administration seems more concerned with the Spanish language and preserving hispanic culture more than actual academics. For example in music most of the songs they learn are in Spanish, even for classrooms not in the dual language program.Parent Review11mo ago - Pickard Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePoor school with bullying problems. Students sit on laptops doing computer programs alone for hours a day. Internet program IXL teaches the students, not the teachers. New admin is white in a Hispanic school. It's a mess.Parent Review2y ago - Spry Elementary Community School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child is in her second year in the school. She has loved her teachers and they do a lot of social emotional learning as well as academics. The school has many cultural events. Most of the students are Mexican American and my kid loves those events. Because she's not Mexican, they also accomodate her to observe and teach about our cultural customs. The Special Education is especially strong. Many surrounding schools push out disabled students to raise test scores. But Telpochcalli accepts all students and supports them. The curriculum is not only about academics, but helps students feel love and support for themselves and others with disabilities. The multilingual program is strong. It starts from Pre-K but you can enter at any time and they have special classes to catch you up if your kid is coming from a monolingual schools.Parent Review1y ago - Saucedo Elementary Scholastic Academy

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school showed me a lot of values and a lot of responsibilities there might be people who cant used to an environment where there supposedly missed treating their child when nobody is the staff is basically the best and the overall school also the passion for things exists here best program to say to have is the boy's soccer team is the best in the network and the best for discipline and overall show yu the passion for the sport and academics there a lot of responsibilities and the kid is taught good enough to be independent later onOther Review1y ago - St Agatha Catholic Academy
