My children were remote learners due to the 2019 pandemic and were enrolled in a Charter school originally. I felt that they would benefit more at a neighborhood school and learn in person. Since the beginning of the 2021 school year my son was experiencing racially based bullying. He was physically assaulted on multiple occasions by the Hispanics students. He is in the 2nd grade and has an older sister in the 6th grade. I repeatedly informed the staff, teachers and principle of his bullying and being called the "N" word. The school vehemently denied the bullying happening to my son and labeled him a "bad kid" for defending himself. Due to the biased environment at this school my children are in the process of transferring. English is the 2nd language and Spanish is the first language. There is not enough student diversity at Eberhart and only 3% population of African American Students. It is really a shame that two minority demographics cannot respectfully co-exist at Eberhart. I've spoken to other black parents and their children about the racism and prejudice upheld at Eberhart and they too have expressed extreme concern. We have lived on 64th and Kedzie for over 10 years and the neighborhood was very welcoming to blacks but now it is being predominately housed with Hispanics. The cultural shift of the neighborhood directly affects the culture of the neighborhood school Eberhart negatively. The racial tension and language barrier continue to exist due to the lack of the older generation teaching the younger generations kindness, respect and love for all regardless of race and ethnicity. I thought my children would benefit from the experience and the cultural difference Eberhart Elementary School has to offer. Yet instead, we were consistently reminded of the blatant racism that we as blacks face in this world every day. Eberhart Elementary School is no safe haven for black students or black parents!Parent Review4y ago1 Reviews - Hurley Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGraduated from this school and it was the worse time of my life. I was getting bullied everyday and was even choked and threatened infront of an entire class, no one reported it or did anything, only one person helped who was my friend. The teachers are not the best at teaching their subject and are rude to students as well. My friends from this school were also bullied, and made uncomfortable by students and teachers. I once reported being bullied and cried to the counselor about what she did and the things she made me do, I was reported and she didn't receive any type of punishment. Only a few teachers were kind but very few, most picked their favorite students and let them pass. I have been doing better in highschool, which this school did not prepare me or any other students for. The counselor also did not help families with first-born children how to apply for different highschools, she also ignored bullying. Would not recommend everOther Review4mo ago6 Reviews - Pasteur Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe staff is very rude; from experiences for school events and actually attending. Staff is quick to tel Lyon not what to do instead of greeting and finding out if someone needs assistance. This is a huge concern because if they’re talking rudely to parents, i can only imagine how they’re dealing with children.Parent Review1y ago6 Reviews - Monarcas Academy

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSt. Nick's school has provided a wonderful learning environment for my 4 children and I highly recommend this school to anyone seeking a private Catholic education. St. Nick's provides a lot of assistance to students that need a little more encouragement and/or help in and outside of the classroom. The addition of teacher aides help provide individual one on one time to ensure no student is left behind. The title I teachers are amazing! My son especially loves Mrs. Baran; she has helped him grow in reading/math and continues to support him due to covid setbacks. The technology program has really grown over the years and is established into all classrooms with chromebooks, iPads, smartboards, etc. The school feels like an large extended family, parents get to know one another through volunteer, parent meetings, sporting events, etc. even though there are no requirements placed on us. I help when we can and if I can't, that's been okay too. St. Nick's is not in it for the tuition, they have helped me personally when needed. The staff are all amazing and the teachers have timely communication through ClassDoJo app so you're never left out on homework, upcoming events, or private matters involving your child. I recommend St. Nick's to all, go check them out!Parent Review3y ago25 Reviews
