Read what parents are saying about Alcott College PrepWe selected Alcott specifically for the diverse learner program and our all of our expectations have been greatly exceeded. The support teachers, school psychologist and speech pathologist are top notch and have helped our son thrive. In addition, our daughter who does not require additional supports, has felt challenged and engaged and is also thriving. There is an amazing community of teachers and families who support the school. The principal is an effective leader and is thoughtful and kind while still creating high standards for the entire school. The school clerk and security guard make all feel welcome and safe. We absolutely love Alcott and the entire community.
Posted by a parent on 11/2/2023We researched schools extensively before selecting Alcott for our children. While we also received offers from a number of other top CPS schools via the lottery, we’re so happy we went with this one. It’s a place where my kids are academically challenged, but still a carefree and nurturing environment where they just get to be kids and explore the world. It’s been a great fit for all my kids who have different interests and personalities. Administration is open to feedback, communicates regularly with families on a range of relevant topics, and the door is always open for families to contribute their time and resources in ways that are important to them. P.S. We love the Mandarin program!
Posted by a parent on 9/27/2023Rundown. Disappointing new principal. Poor communication. Big donors call the shots and get special treatment. Some reviews on here seem to be fake. Rude, disorganized front office. Inaccessible for wheelchairs. Lack support for those who need extra help, disabilities, learning diabilities, social-emotional. Bullying tolerated. Elitism promoted. Racism tolerated.
Posted by a teacher on 8/1/2023Alcott is not just a school, it is a community. Teachers, administration, and parents all care about the school, the kids, and the entire community. After Skinner, which is selective enrollment (!), Alcott sends the most kids to selective enrollment high schools in CPS. Alcott is diverse in every sense of the word, and we celebrate our differences.
Posted by a parent on 6/4/2021I feel literally grateful to the teachers my son has had. They've gone far above and beyond, both in-person (pre-pandemic) and virtually (during the pandemic). Mailing my son gifts, having great supplies (including party favors for virtual celebrations), thoughtful 1:1 time, and chats. I'm just beyond thankful. The principal also is just as caring as caring can be.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI’ve been going to Tubman Elementary for about 9 years and I am now in eighth grade here the school has its ups and downs but one of the many things I’d like to address is the special education and bullying 1. special education the special education for students who don’t really understand the curriculum of a class they are in can sometimes be only helpful for students who ask for the help but like me i feel stupid and dumb to ask for help from teachers or my friends and nobody comes check up on me at all which i think we as a school can improve so students can feel safe asking for help.2. bullying/harassmentthis will not be in every classroom but we had a student in our class who thought it was funny to harass the women and sometimes the males there and the teachers did absolutely nothing but take them outside to sit and tell us to not defend ourselves at all which i think is absolutely insane but i do get it tahts it because we don’t get in trouble as well but i think they could definitely do more then take them outside to take and allow them to stay in the classes of students they’re harassing. that is all, sincerely, an eight grader.Student Review9mo ago - Mayer Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGood community school in East Lakeview. Diverse group of students with strong parent engagement. Teachers seem motivated and ready to take on the day. Lots of communication between teachers and parents in regards to classroom activities and what’s being studied on the classroom. PreK through 8 grade school.Parent Review1y ago - Newberry Elementary Math & Science Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAACA is an amazing school and I feel so lucky to have it in our community and have our boys attend. The principal, teachers and staff are amazing and go above and beyond. The academic preparedness and focus on the whole child is exceptional and is supported by two full-time counselors. There are so many ways for kids to be involved outside of school whether it's sports, musical, band, choir, set-design to name just a few. I can't think of a better school for our three boys.Parent Review5mo ago - St. Clement School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe became involved in the parish in 2021 when we moved to the neighborhood and my son started in the full time PK-3 program in the Fall of 2022. Leading up to his enrollment, everyone talked about how wonderful the community was and every parent I spoke to only had incredible things to say about the school. It was all true! The staff, teachers, parents, and parish could not be more welcoming or kind. The PK 3 and 4 teachers have been wonderful, and our son has blossomed and started showing leadership skills / accountability from various classroom activities like weekly “jobs” (greeter, weather patrol, line leader, etc.). We love the anchor buddy program and the cross-grade exposure it creates. We are extremely lucky to be part of such a special school and look forward to sending our youngest there in the Fall. I am proud to be a Saint Clement parent.Parent Review4w ago
