St Marks Elementary School

I think this school has really good intentions and teaches the children well. However, I did have a hard time with getting some of the staff to intervene with bullying. Other than that it was a good school for my children.

Very poor communication....I had an issue with a teacher and principal literally backed her up . The teacher would scream at the kids and she also told the kids that back in the day kids would get hit with rulers if they didnt behave. I talked to the teacher nothing I went to the principal nothing they just said because since my son is a soft boy he was misunderstanding stuff that got me so mad. I should on went there yelling to see how kids feel when they get yelled liked that. And then poor communication from nurse they never call me from the nurse so everything I find out from my child or I have to call this is ridiculous.I wanna change him from schools but I heard others schools in Idaho are about the same or worst. I come from another state and this is the first time I have issues with schools and with Valley View the last two years have sucked so much.

I went to the Village for middle school and it was absolutely horrible. They are supposed to be a seven healthy habits school however they do not encompass these beliefs. They do not ever remind people about events and they don't care about the students. The school never deals with misbehaving students which creates a toxic learning environment. Overall don't send your kids here unless you don't want your kids to learn anything and to learn that their actions don't have consequences.

I wish I had trusted my intuition with this school. My child was not kept safe during our short time here. My child was sent on bus repeatedly on days he was supposed to go to after school care. A very serious matter that was reported to me by a teacher involving my child with another was not taken seriously. The assistant principal kept cancelling our meeting regarding the issue. She played incident off I do not believe my child was being watched over in this class because my child specified incident happened a lot. I removed my child. No one ever once reached out to see why he never returned or showed concern. Shame on this school for not keeping my child safe. Sure their eputation seems great, but that's far from what we experienced here. After attending another school, I can say, the difference is night and day.

Our daughter came to this school 3 years ago after realizing that she preferred a more “hands on” approach to learning than our neighborhood public school could offer. She has really enjoyed it, especially her time in the middle school. The first thing we noticed when we made the switch was how much the kids are involved in day to day activities—fully running an assembly, making school signs, helping out here and there in the classroom—these may seem like small things, but it puts the child front and center and makes them feel they are really contributing—and they are. The school’s relatively small environment has been good for my daughter too. Maker Space and an excellent art program have made school more interesting, fun even. The teachers are innovative, supportive, and really care. A recent addition of a theater program in the 8th grade has been the icing on the cake for my daughter, she has been loving it! We have been very happy at Anser.
