Read what parents are saying about Summerwind Math & ScienceAll 4 of my children attended Summerwind K-5th. We had nothing but wonderful experiences for each child and have had exceptional teachers throughout all our years. After our oldest child had been at the school for a couple of years, I started working there and have held many job titles over the years. Summerwind is an excellent school and community that becomes family to many of its students.
Posted by a teacher on 5/21/2019Our son has attended Summerwind for 3 years and our daughter will start in the fall. The teachers are great and there are a lot of opportunities for parents and students to get involved. We highly recommend the school.
Posted by a parent on 4/6/2014My daughter started kindergarten this year. We live within the boundary of another school, so we got into Summerwind by lottery. When I visited the school, the two teachers I spoke to both indicated that they plan to stay at the school long-term and commented that they like the new principal (who is one of only two men on campus!). So far, I'm very pleased with Summerwind. The communication from the school is good--we get a monthly newsletter from the principal as well as the classroom teacher. My daughter already knew how to read heading into kindergarten, and her teacher is doing a wonderful job of keeping her challenged. We had a recent issue with a child mistreating our daughter, and the staff has been very helpful in dealing with the situation. Summerwind offers several "extras" that I like--the principal was very informative about the new Common Core standards at a parent night, they hosted a math night, they have lunchtime running and reading clubs, career-day type assemblies, plus after-school activities like chess club and the jumprope club. My daughter is happy and I feel like she's getting a great education--what more could I ask for?
Posted by a parent on 11/21/2013Summerwind works to keep parents involved and informed. I like to keep involved in education process of my grand child and they have made it easy for me to keep informed. Thank you Summerwind staff!
Posted by a parent on 9/29/2013We have had mostly positive experiences with Summerwind. In general the teachers are likeable, capable, caring individuals. The kindergarten teachers are the best there is. IEP for my son's speech were non intimidating and helpful. PTO does a good job supporting the school programs.

The teacher would scream at the kids and she also told the kids that back in the day kids would get hit with rulers if they didnt behave. I talked to the teacher nothing I went to the principal nothing they just said because since my son is a soft boy he was misunderstanding stuff that got me so mad. I should on went there yelling to see how kids feel when they get yelled liked that. And then poor communication from nurse they never call me from the nurse so everything I find out from my child or I have to call this is ridiculous.I wanna change him from schools but I heard others schools in Idaho are about the same or worst. I come from another state and this is the first time I have issues with schools and with Valley View the last two years have sucked so much.Parent Review1y ago - Morley Nelson Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe Teachers have been very helpful but the principal is rather rude and disrespectful from my interactions with them. The school has a great community center for the kids which is a wonderful thing to have. They have lots of family night type of events. My kids love the school. I am a little concerned with the overall performance of the school but have found my children to be doing rather well. One thing that drives all of us parents crazy is the parking / drop off / pick up. Its a nightmare!Parent Review5y ago - Ustick Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf I could give a negative star review I would, but since I can't I am stuck leaving it as a one star. My son started kindergarten this year and we've had nothing but trouble with the school. He started being bullied and then because of that started to act out. He was not getting the support he needed or being watched very well. I will not go into details to give our identities away. But if I could start his kindergarten year over at another school I would. I am investigating and looking for another option starting today. Do not allow your kids to go here! I constantly worry about his safety at this school.Parent Review1y ago - Joplin Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has had an amazing experience at McMillian. After being transfered from a different school where my son was bullied and where his IEP was not followed. McMillian has a good special needs programs for Idaho. The class sizes are smaller and the mainstream teachers do have experience and training in special needs.Parent Review1y ago - St Marks Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averageacademically inexcusable. After two years here my child is 1 1/2 years behind but they were going to progress him to the next grade anyway. We paid a LOT of money for them to teach my child and they obviously did not do what we paid them to do, and they do not care about the child's well-being, just about getting another years tuition money.Parent Review3y ago
