Read what parents are saying about Fairway Elementary SchoolNot a good school at all they never do activities for the kids. No graduation no type of shows no sports activities after school nothing for the kids.
Posted by a parent on 6/6/2022I am a resident and parent of a 3rd grader of Mr. R.McCormick class.I find him to be a good teacher;who assigns daily homework, responsive to my concerns and very liked by my son. The halls are cleaned, walls are painted, last muriel almost completed, library shelves stocked and assistance is always present, cafeteria well kept/organized, This school is well run. Ms.McKnight and her support staff are professionals that are caring and have the desire to make a difference in the 790 students who attend Fairway Elementry School on a daily basis! Yes 790 students with LITTLE PARENTAL INVOLVMENT in this FREE PUBLIC EDUCATION.

Posted by a parent on 10/4/2014Don't Attend this school. Worst School in Miramar, I went to the meet the teachers meeting and it was a waste of time didn't learn anything. I was told by the teachers they will send the information on the first day of school and i'm still waiting. The school is so disorganized, they had no orientation, don't know whats going on in the school, the teachers didnt know how to send the kids to class or even how to organized drop off and pick up, The main office is the worst, there is no communications between anyone. I was told by the vice principal one thing but nothing was was done about it. the location changes by the day. The staff don't care the parents dont care so there is no improvement. There are no groups for the school no PTA, the school website is out of date since last year. The school supply list is different than what my child gave me so i wasted money on supplies he will not use this year. There should not be a uniform color because i see student come to the school in whatever color. if i can take my kids out of this school i would have so if you can avoid this school please do. They dont deserve that one star!!!
Posted by a parent on 8/22/2014Fairway Elementary School have improved DRASTICALLY. The second you walk into the front office you are welcomed with a warm smile and greeting by a young lady name Ms. Gilbert. Administration is usually visible before and after school. I would say the teacher there are friendly and will contact parents with any issues they may have. There is a teacher in particular who I appreciate to the maximum and that is Fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Natasha Jean. She is a motivator, team player, talented, oversees mostly EVERY extracurricular activities at Fairway and most importantly an AWESOME teacher. There are times Mrs. Jean would sit down and explain homework assignments with me so I can assist my son at home. Her notes are extremely helpful. My son went from a struggling reader/writer to a proficient reader on the honor roll. She also taught my daughter many years ago who is currently in the 11th grade. Her teaching skills, relationship with students and parents is remarkable. I sure hope that administration knows how awesome she is. I can see Mrs. Jean being a GREAT principal one day. Fairway is a great school that is overlooked by many. I am a proud parent of Fairway Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNo after school support for my daughter. Or any other kind of academic support. And with this COVID-19 problem, there is even less availability from the teachers (until 12 noon even by phone!) I have to say, the average teacher salary of $50, 000 a year or more is grossly inflated for the meager work they do!Parent Review3y ago - Sunshine Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWorst school my kids have ever attended. Don’t send your kids here! Hoping they shut down this school..the principal and teachers aren’t the best here and it’s sad to see so many kids having issues at this school but yet the school does nothing.Other Review10mo ago - Annabel C. N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt is so sad that I have to give a review of this school because I did like about 2.5 of the staff members there. This school has potential if the administration gets a do-over or retrained. I am not sure if people are just broken or tired since this pandemic but this school is just chaotic. Yes, it starts at home so to any parents who have children in this school you should be ashamed of yourselves for raising children who don't understand the consequences and act like behaving and having empathy for others is so foreign. The teachers didn't make it any better by the passive-aggressive approach to disciplining children instead of setting standards and structure. You hear kids cursing and bullying and yet you turn the other way. Comments like "I can't turn water into wine and "I don't care if you don't" approach to teaching is the equivalent to I'm just here for a paycheck. You too as educators should be ashamed to talk in such ways. Get it together! Biggest regret (and I usually have no regrets) was choosing this school for my daughter who was bullied and funny how it's like she is to blame for why she was bullied. You even made the biggest bully of 6th grade the class president. How convenient! Good luck! If you have a sweet kid who isn't into rowdiness and actually wants to learn in a safe and peaceful environment with structure go somewhere else. Don't be fooled by the religious aspect because there has been no such thing as unity or Godly guided from our experience. Again Good luck!!Parent Review2y ago
