Read what parents are saying about Longleaf Elementary SchoolIf I could give this school a 100 out of 5, I would! This is one of the best schools I have ever been too. The teachers are amazing (shout-out to Mrs. Beck), the school is a fun place to learn, and it is a very friendly community to start off a child’s educational experience. I would completely recommend this school!
Posted by a community member on 8/22/2023I have been a longleaf parent for many years and without a doubt it just keeps getting better and better. Exceptional staff and over all excellent school!
Posted by a parent on 5/26/2023Bullying, Cursing, and Inappropriate topics have become rampant here. It is so sad because our children have been honor roll students here since 2014. It used to be an amazing school that I was proud for my children to attend, but not any more. Unfortunately, Longleaf has declined DRAMATICALLY over the past 3 years! Their constant change in administration (including several new principals and vice principals) lead to low teacher moral and it greatly affected their motivation to teach or to even care about the well-being of the children. Teachers should never be cursing in front of or at elementary aged children, but many at this school do so without being reprimanded. There has also been a severe decline in both safety and cleanliness. There was a HUGE problem with rats/mice at the school to the point that the news even did a story on it. (Feel free to look it up) Our children couldn't bring snacks in their lunch box for fear that the mice would get in when they went out for recess, and there were many mornings that the students would arrive and there would be mouse droppings on their desks and throughout the classroom. When I would speak to the school about it, their nonchalant attitude about the situation was unnerving. The ants were horrible there as well, and sometimes our kids would have ants in their backpacks when they got home. The cleaning staff here is almost non-existent, so the bathrooms and classrooms only get cleaned periodically. I started sending wipes for our kids to clean their desks, the lunch tables, and the bathrooms before using them each day. The worst part of Longleaf is the bullying. Our old principal from 4 years ago would never have tolerated it, but now it is prevalent. Kids are being bullied for clothing, physical appearance, and even their religion! (My friends daughter had to stop wearing her crucifix necklace to school because the atheist children said religion wasn't allowed, and the teacher did nothing to stop it. The girl told her Mom it wasn't worth getting beat up over). Kids are also discussing very adult topics as early as the 2nd grade, and nothing is being done to stop it. Our child came home asking about words that they didn't understand (nor should they), and I was completely shocked at what was apparently being discussed at recess while the teachers were not supervising the kids. This has gotten progressively worse over the last few years. I am sorry to say that I would no longer recommend this school.

Posted by a teacher on 3/7/2018Our children have been attending Longleaf for a combined 8 years! We have yet to be disappointed by any teachers, the curriculum, and leadership at this school!

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school seems picture perfect from the outside but what I found alarming enough to pull my child out was when I saw an older male teacher hugging and groping young female students before and after they entered his classroom while I’d be in the drop off lane. Disappointed in the principal, because after we notified this inappropriate behavior, no action was taken place. If you send your child to this school, keep your eyes open and talk to them about boundaries adults should not crossParent Review9mo ago - Brevard Jewish Community School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is great for little kiddies. Once you are ready for first grade-LEAVE! The quality of their education is extremely POOR. Their staff is not trained to teache both Judaism/Hebrew and secular studies. They will take any student if they can pay, that is all that matters.Parent Review13y ago - Suntree Montessori School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAmazing school. Excellent instruction and much enjoyment for the kids. Had one son there from age 3 to 5. Was more than prepared for Kindergarten at our zoned public school and required more challenging environment. Have another son there currently. Will be putting our third son there as well.Parent Review10y ago - Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you are looking for a woke, Liberal private school with quite good academics, HT may be a good fit. College placement is likely as good as it gets, as is the education to get one there. If you want a more Conservative Christian environment to go alongside the academics, look elsewhere...this indeed is a VERY Liberal institution. Gay agenda is acceptable as biblical doctrine, any opposition will be punished..."feel good" is the theme but true biblical values have never likely entered the building! We would still likely have sent our kids there but they should be honest about what they, Liberalism is prevalent everywhere!Parent Review3mo ago - Ascension Catholic School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHad such high hopes for this school. Not sure how things were a few years ago but these days it’s terrible. Disrespect is rampant, the office staff is terrible and lacks any basic knowledge for what’s going on on campus etc, not to mention the head lady in the background running things in the front office is terribly rude and condescending to parents and students. How is this allowed in a Catholic school!? I’m not the only one who has seen this! There seems to be a lack of enforcement of the schools dress code as I have seen many children not wearing the uniform correctly, and hair is out of control, not to mention a personal hygiene standard for some of them. You don’t have to be rich to present a clean and tidy student. Yet there seems to be no enforcement of ANY standards there. At least from what I have seen. Why aren’t parents called and held accountable for the cleanliness and standards of their children? It’s a VERY closed off campus. Not much parent involvement or inclusion on a daily basis. No parent volunteers helping teachers or anyone else. Seems as though they like it that way. The less eyes on campus the better maybe? All I see is a small opportunity for volunteering in the newsletter here and there and it’s not even for anything related to classroom or academics! Who really knows what it’s like behind those doors. I used to volunteer all the time at my child’s public school and it was welcomed and appreciated. Not here! Teachers are minimally trained and some lack a supportive educational background. Very few, if any, aids helping where needed and a ghost of a principal who seems to rarely be on campus. My child says he doesn’t even see her during his day. And where is Fr. John? The main supportive faith representative is also absent! No support for the students it seems and certainly no accountability of the students NOR the teachers about much! What happened to striving to be better? This campus seems to have gotten stagnant and mundane. No school spirit, no pep, no standards and no accountability. Behavior problems not dealt with! I pray that someday soon there’s an intervention and changes are made but I’m skeptical at best. Leadership isn’t for everyone. Sometimes you need to realize you lack what’s needed in a situation and move on. Hoping we get a new principal who has a proactive and positive vision of what this school can really be. For now, stagnant and mundane is what you get, not to mention without standards. Embarrassing.Parent Review2y ago - Ascension School
