Read what parents are saying about Ascension Catholic SchoolHad such high hopes for this school. Not sure how things were a few years ago but these days it’s terrible. Disrespect is rampant, the office staff is terrible and lacks any basic knowledge for what’s going on on campus etc, not to mention the head lady in the background running things in the front office is terribly rude and condescending to parents and students. How is this allowed in a Catholic school!? I’m not the only one who has seen this! There seems to be a lack of enforcement of the schools dress code as I have seen many children not wearing the uniform correctly, and hair is out of control, not to mention a personal hygiene standard for some of them. You don’t have to be rich to present a clean and tidy student. Yet there seems to be no enforcement of ANY standards there. At least from what I have seen. Why aren’t parents called and held accountable for the cleanliness and standards of their children? It’s a VERY closed off campus. Not much parent involvement or inclusion on a daily basis. No parent volunteers helping teachers or anyone else. Seems as though they like it that way. The less eyes on campus the better maybe? All I see is a small opportunity for volunteering in the newsletter here and there and it’s not even for anything related to classroom or academics! Who really knows what it’s like behind those doors. I used to volunteer all the time at my child’s public school and it was welcomed and appreciated. Not here! Teachers are minimally trained and some lack a supportive educational background. Very few, if any, aids helping where needed and a ghost of a principal who seems to rarely be on campus. My child says he doesn’t even see her during his day. And where is Fr. John? The main supportive faith representative is also absent! No support for the students it seems and certainly no accountability of the students NOR the teachers about much! What happened to striving to be better? This campus seems to have gotten stagnant and mundane. No school spirit, no pep, no standards and no accountability. Behavior problems not dealt with! I pray that someday soon there’s an intervention and changes are made but I’m skeptical at best. Leadership isn’t for everyone. Sometimes you need to realize you lack what’s needed in a situation and move on. Hoping we get a new principal who has a proactive and positive vision of what this school can really be. For now, stagnant and mundane is what you get, not to mention without standards. Embarrassing.
Posted by a parent on 3/25/2022I love this school. My children love this school! We would not go anywhere else.
Posted by a parent on 6/19/20207 out of 10. Due to my above comments.
Posted by a parent on 6/10/2018It started great. Our children started here in first grade and now they are graduating. It was a very structured school under the previous principal (mr Workman). Our experience since Ms Brady became principal has rapidly gotten worse. We wish we would have transferred out 3 years ago.
Posted by a parent on 5/22/2018The school alone gets 3 stars, I think the curriculum is not challenging and they are ill equipped for students with special needs. However, the vibe of the school is warm and loving, a good place to nurture children and I gave another star for the excellent after school care program which is A++.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSabal has a new principal (as of 2020) and is working to make Sabal a great school. Mrs. Trosset listens to my concerns and always has the student’s best interest at heart. The teachers really care about their students and work to give them the best education possible. I agree with another review that the scores may be a bit low but many families in this area are struggling to pay the bills and are unable to support what is happening in the classroom and cannot attend family programs.Parent Review10mo ago - Croton Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am extremely happy with the education my 3 children are getting at croton. I have 2 children with ADHD and the staff has been very helpful with behavioral input for providers and patient while trying to get the medication adjusted. I also have alittle one with special needs who has blossomed since starting classes at Croton. Everyone shows care and concern about the kids. The staff seem to know all the kids names and to genuinely care about the kids even after they have move to the next grade. It is a great school. You will always find someone who has some beef with any school so not every parent will be happy. But this parent is very happy.Parent Review1mo ago - Dr. W.J. Creel Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTransferred into Creel from another BPS school during Covid; was impressed with teacher & staff communication & overall transition. Extra kudos since covid made everything more unpredictable, but we never felt uninformed on the school front. Our oldest was pretty behind when he came in to the school, especially from no in person school at the end of prior year during covid, but he made significant gains by the end of the year & was right on grade level expectations when tested! He's always been excited & enthused to go to school there.I take the overall school ratings (testing related) with a grain of salt as many researchers agree they more often than not show a level of "peer quality" over general "school quality" - which can discount the importance of many, perhaps even more relevant, school factors. And of course, studies show those with negative experiences (perhaps isolated) are far more likely to leave exaggerated negative reviews than even those with (mediocre) positive reviews. This is true for any online review platform, but a bias all should remember when considering anything of importance. Also impressed with the school's total construction overhaul this summer - going from an open concept to closed classrooms is a good move.Keep up the good work Eagles!Parent Review2y ago - Longleaf Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf I could give this school a 100 out of 5, I would! This is one of the best schools I have ever been too. The teachers are amazing (shout-out to Mrs. Beck), the school is a fun place to learn, and it is a very friendly community to start off a child’s educational experience. I would completely recommend this school!Other Review8mo ago - Ascension School
