Read what parents are saying about Grant Middle SchoolGrant Beacon is the worst school I've sent my kids to. I followed one of my students around for a day and was so embarrassed to have my child there. I felt like the student ran the school. Students were so disrespectful to the teachers. The teachers do not get paid enough to handle these kids. If you want your child to play sports you should look else where. The sports program is awful. The coach only allows upper class to play. They do not teach sportsmanship. The team will be winning by 40 plus points and the coach will not play anyone but the starters still. When winning by this much, its the less skilled opportunity to gain confidence and skill. Grant Beacon does not believe in teaching athletes the actual game on how to win with great sportsmanship and leadership. Bullying is huge. My child has been bullied so much he is scared to say anything. I wanted to support my neighborhood school but sad to say kids are not learning here.
Posted by a parent on 3/6/2023A lot of the teachers are great. The lack of communication or getting through to someone is concerning, especially when there appears to be a culture of physical and verbal aggression between students. It is rare to get someone to call you back or answer the phone. You may have better luck calling the superintendent office (720) 423-3300
Posted by a parent on 1/12/2022I have one child who just finished 8th grade and one coming into 6th. I cannot say enough about our wonderful experience at Grant. The amount of attention each child gets to help them progress is on par with the best of private schools. Instead of herd mentality, it is a "every child learns differently" approach. The enrichments are high quality and the options are fantastic.
Posted by a parent on 6/13/2019Terrible! This school does nothing with bullies and does not step in if a child is getting jumped by multiple students. The policy is to not have the staff break up a fight. The staff might get hurt so they will stand by and call the police while damage is being done to the student. Other students video taped the incident and then further social humiliation for the student took place until they needed to transfer to another school and deal with the doctor appointments on their own.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOne of the sweetest, most nurturing neighborhood schools in the city of Denver. Both the traditional and Montessori teachers are incredible. Many of them have been at the school for more than 10 years. The principal is a former Montessori teacher and knows the strengths of both forms of education. Her leadership has been a light in the public school system. There are very few schools that do both traditional and Montessori education this well. Both of my children have thrived, love school, feel comfortable and safe in this environment.Parent Review4mo ago - McKinley-Thatcher Elementary School

I have witnessed her getting loud with one of the male paras in the hallway. I saw this picking up my little brother from school. I consider this unprofessional and very disturbing behavior to treat colleagues like this. Next year i will be suggesting to pull my brother out because of this para. This is not how you treat fellow employees!Other Review10mo ago - Schmitt Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI recently graduated from Ricks, I was there k-8 (11 years). While I have made lifelong friendships and have genuinely enjoyed my time there, I would not recommend this school to anyone. The academics have been subpar, setting me behind in my highschool experience. Ricks is a school that claims to be kid oriented and have gifted programs, but it is far from. Many of the administrators have no control over the school, and there are little to no “gifted” programs. I have seen some of the smartest students fail because of the lack of focus on students. I highly recommend asking about the teacher turnover, as there have only been a few teachers there for more than 3 years. Their staff is severely underappreciated and as more teachers quit, they are replaced by worse and worse teachers. If you are considering going here, I highly recommend reaching out to current parents of kids who go there. It is likely you will begin to see the never ending amount of problems at this school. As a person with a learning disability I feel my needs were not met and I was not accommodated to the full extent I should have been. As for mental health, this school had no clue what they were doing. In my time at middle school we would occasionally be called for an ”assembly” which consisted of a presentation on mental health and how to reach out if you needed help. I do not know anyone who used the tools they offered us. The presentations were ineffective, and on top of that, my friends and I had no trust in the school psychologist. In my experience, many of the teachers were amazing, they were our true friends and advocates. I loved each one of my teachers, but since I have left, all of them have either quit or plan to in the next few years. The only thing that kept me at this school was the teachers, who are truly superheroes. If you are looking into this school for your child, ask questions. Ask about what admin controls, why there are such small classes, why teachers keep quitting, what their gifted programs are, and how they plan to create a well rounded student.Other Review10mo ago - St Vincent De Paul School
