Read what parents are saying about Colorado International SchoolTerrible. The school is moving locations OUT OF THE CITY mid way through the trimester. Disgusting management.
Posted by a parent on 9/23/2017CoIS is an incredible school that will foster the growth in your child. With the small classroom sizes, your child gets one on one time with native language speakers that engage and teach your child. There are many opportunities for your child to develop their leadership skills, presentation skills and their own self confidence. My daughter continues to grow in her language abilities and she continues to perform above grade level in all subjects.
Posted by a parent on 10/5/2016My daughter loves COIS. Not only does she get to study 2 foreign languages from amazing and dedicated native speakers but she gets many opportunities to experience and perform in a multitude of cultural celebrations. She is also exposed to multi age learning environments where sometimes she is the mentor and other times she is mentored by older students. We have been at the school a number of years and I couldn't be more happy with my daughter's personal development and academic achievement in all disciplines (English, foreign languages, STEM, etc.). Administrative resources are thin so parents need to actively engage with the school community. The school isn't much to look at but inside amazing things happen.
Posted by a parent on 10/5/2016The focus here is learning. Period. Every penny of every dollar is spent on enriching the child's learning environment and opportunities. I have long wished that all schools and universities spent less money on grounds-keeping, signage, administrator furniture and the like. If you're looking for superficial expression of success, then look all around you. If you believe a mentally stimulating and academically challenging environment & curriculum are the absolute most important thing (assuming the basics are covered obviously--safety, etc.), this is the school for you. Your child will grow, ask more insightful questions and learn for learning's sake at this school. Having your child speak/read/write 3 to 4 languages is a bonus.
Posted by a parent on 8/29/2016The administration and teachers at CoIS are brilliant. It's true that some of the parents just can't keep up, or sometimes get their feelings hurt! Fortunately, the children thrive on being held to high standards. What's more, the school is small because the student body is tightly controlled for potential to do well-- My child, for example had the highest gifted and talented score in the Adams 12 school district (that;s 40,000 students) -- these are the best of the best and I'm happy that the administration keeps it this way. The other students are fascinating, talented and yes, some are affluent; but our family is very ordinary. You should know- Higher ED, International Baccalaureate, and Immersion are not just words at CoIS. They are infused (aggressively) into every lesson. When multiple teachers are present, my child speaks to them in French, English and Mandarin without pausing. He is on track to do well on college entrance exams after 8th grade-- in several languages. The school boasts at least 2 students who achieved perfect scores on the ACT and I want my child to be in such good company. CoIS does not do anything halfway: The Austrian Consulate visited the students for the recent Austrian Tea Party-- Yesterday a famous composer took interview questions from the student newspaper--- no one tells you its going to be like this when you sign up-- They just say "We expect alot of you". My child is flourishing and ,..I'm just so grateful. This is a life-changing opportunity.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI recently graduated from Ricks, I was there k-8 (11 years). While I have made lifelong friendships and have genuinely enjoyed my time there, I would not recommend this school to anyone. The academics have been subpar, setting me behind in my highschool experience. Ricks is a school that claims to be kid oriented and have gifted programs, but it is far from. Many of the administrators have no control over the school, and there are little to no “gifted” programs. I have seen some of the smartest students fail because of the lack of focus on students. I highly recommend asking about the teacher turnover, as there have only been a few teachers there for more than 3 years. Their staff is severely underappreciated and as more teachers quit, they are replaced by worse and worse teachers. If you are considering going here, I highly recommend reaching out to current parents of kids who go there. It is likely you will begin to see the never ending amount of problems at this school. As a person with a learning disability I feel my needs were not met and I was not accommodated to the full extent I should have been. As for mental health, this school had no clue what they were doing. In my time at middle school we would occasionally be called for an ”assembly” which consisted of a presentation on mental health and how to reach out if you needed help. I do not know anyone who used the tools they offered us. The presentations were ineffective, and on top of that, my friends and I had no trust in the school psychologist. In my experience, many of the teachers were amazing, they were our true friends and advocates. I loved each one of my teachers, but since I have left, all of them have either quit or plan to in the next few years. The only thing that kept me at this school was the teachers, who are truly superheroes. If you are looking into this school for your child, ask questions. Ask about what admin controls, why there are such small classes, why teachers keep quitting, what their gifted programs are, and how they plan to create a well rounded student.Other Review11mo ago - St Vincent De Paul School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe absolutely love SAES! Both of our kids began in kindergarten and for each of them it has been a wonderful experience. One of our favorite parts of the school is that each child is met with respect and encouraged to build their autonomy in a nurturing and supportive environment. The school is academically rigorous while also maintaining focus on social and emotional learning and development. We are so happy with and grateful for such a wonderful school and community environment!Parent Review2y ago - Monument Charter Academy
