Josephine Chrysler Elementary School

Wow. What a horrible experience with this school. My daughters first school year and she wants to return to her old school. Too many bullies and politics. Neither principals call you back to discuss my concerns. Once you do complain they seem to single your child out and take it out on them.

TK thru Kinder are the most unenthusiastic and unhelpful teachers. They do not assist with shoe tying nor put on backpacks or jackets if students are struggling. In class volunteers aren’t allowed which I’m sure is for a reason. My student was not comfortable speaking up and when she did was met with my-way mentality from the teacher. They may teach the curriculum however it is not a fun nor loving environment which is crucial to kids in trust building, confidence building, and creating love for school the first 2 yrs!! Very sad and wouldn’t recommend.

This school went from being good to decent to just horrible all around. Not sure if this all came after Covid, but from admin (new and old) not taking situations seriously to teachers not caring anymore, and kids who are repeated offenders not being held accountable especially when their grandmother is a teacher there- it’s heart breaking. I regret ever keeping my child here. Children here do not advance academically and it almost seems like we are just at a standstill.

Children did not like the school and disliked attending:( Although the facility is newer, campus is small and crowded.

Both of my children attended school from k to 6 here. They are both very different. I've had good and bad experiences with teachers. I think it all depends on the teacher and how well equipped they are. I've struggled with my oldest since kindergarten with his attention span and behavior. Some teachers have more patience than others. I will say it was the more seasoned ones. They were willing to get him on an IEP, counseling, helping with plans at home to reinforce good behavior when staying on track. Then it seemed like a newer teacher to the school had nothing but bad to say when he started a new grade. After having improvements in the previous years. Not to mention the then vice principal (who is no longer there) telling my oldest he needed medication to stop day dreaming. Then called him a liar when confronted about it. But since having passed that grade and getting rid of that VP it was smooth sailing. The Vice Principal now Harvey is amazing. Never had a real issue with staff since then. There were some issues with bullying but quickly resolved.
