Read what parents are saying about William Garrison Elementary SchoolFor the most part, I would say that it is a great school. No school is perfect and no student is perfect but they are certainly doing their best at Garrison.

Posted by a parent on 5/7/2017I feel the educators go above and beyond for their students. Keep up the good work Garrison. And Ms. Finley is an exceptional principal. Maria and Yvonne are great with the kids as well. They need a friendlier front desk person as well as a more professional school nurse. Other than that everything is great!
Posted by a parent on 4/17/2014My children are both in the Autism preschool at Garrison Elementary. This program is one of the best in the state and is frequently used as a model for other schools trying to build their own programs. The population of the campus approximately 50% general education student and 50% students with Autism. Our experiences with the teachers and program manager have all been positive so far. No major issues during our IEP meetings. I can email the teachers and program manager and usually will receive an answer or get a response before or by the end of the school day. Dealing with the office staff can sometimes be frustrating but for the most part they mean well. Overall a great school, especially if you have a child in the autism program.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI find it absolutely unacceptable and disgusting that this school was fully aware of a faulty AC issue in a special needs classroom and did not have a protocol in place to move these t students to another classroom on the hottest day of the year (114 F). The classroom teacher was asked about the plan in place for the upcoming heatwave with no response provided to parents. Children came home sick, tired and lethargic after being in a classroom all day without relief. Keep in mind these are special needs children who cannot advocate for themselves. There was no notification to parents to give them an option to pick them up. The response that this was the first they knew about the issue and the director stating that her staff (teachers aka grown adults) did not know they could go to her to for situations like this. That was the worst response I have ever heard from someone in a leadership position. That is either a poor selection of a teacher or poor training on the directors part. The story changed to this AC unit had an issue but it was fixed and they didn't know it was broken again. I would hope that if I oversaw a school and had parents reaching out for an answer on what their protocol was that I would check in on the classroom to make sure that the AC was working and students are ok. That would have only taken a few minutes with a phone call to the teacher. POOR LEADERSHIP! Glad to see that the AC is now being replaced but the fact that the poor kids suffered the entire day in that heat is heartbreaking.Parent Review1y ago - George Eisenhut Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school & the hired help DO NOT have the resources or patience to deal with children who have behavior issues. They will call you for any little small thing. Caused me to quit my job. To top it off, they called me down there to talk to my son. Next day they put a no trespassing order on me. I pulled my kids out so fast. Do not recommend this school. Please avoidParent Review11mo ago - Catherine Everett Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth of my children attended school from k to 6 here. They are both very different. I've had good and bad experiences with teachers. I think it all depends on the teacher and how well equipped they are. I've struggled with my oldest since kindergarten with his attention span and behavior. Some teachers have more patience than others. I will say it was the more seasoned ones. They were willing to get him on an IEP, counseling, helping with plans at home to reinforce good behavior when staying on track. Then it seemed like a newer teacher to the school had nothing but bad to say when he started a new grade. After having improvements in the previous years. Not to mention the then vice principal (who is no longer there) telling my oldest he needed medication to stop day dreaming. Then called him a liar when confronted about it. But since having passed that grade and getting rid of that VP it was smooth sailing. The Vice Principal now Harvey is amazing. Never had a real issue with staff since then. There were some issues with bullying but quickly resolved.Parent Review2mo ago - Great Valley Academy
