Office texts me everyday with news and so do teachers.

Enslen Elementary was one of the main reasons we purchased a home in the neighborhood over a decade ago. We’ve had two children attend, and I’ve found many families stay engaged with Enslen even after their students graduate. There’s strong community support as well as fundraisers (ensuring free field trips, free monthly art class, and free yearbooks to all students) as well as plenty of free after school clubs. There are no perfect schools (I say this as a public school Special Education teacher). Still, I have witnessed an outpouring of love and support over the years from admin, teachers, custodians, office staff, yard duties, and cafeteria staff alike. These people love what they do, and it has a positive effect not only on their students, but on their school families.

On a scale of 1-10, I rate my experience with this particular teacher and school leader a 2.

My child attended Standiford K-5th and we had nothing but positive experiences with the staff and instruction. Our younger child now attends and has just finished TK. Both of our kids have always been well-supported, any issues we've had have been addressed in a timely manner. The school communicates well and offers many opportunities for families to participate (back to school night, carnival, trunk-or-treat, etc).

Love it! Staff is amazing. They love on the kids and want to see the best in each child.

Unfortunately, we experienced ongoing behavioral issues that significantly impacted my son’s education. His class had to be evacuated multiple times during the school year due to disruptions — after the seventh time, I honestly lost count. It felt like there was little to no control in the classroom, and the learning environment was constantly interrupted.I was also disappointed with the level of professionalism from Ms. DeVissar. On several occasions, we crossed paths in both the office and parking lot, and she would not acknowledge my presence. Being repeatedly ignored as a parent felt dismissive and unwelcoming. It made me question how communication and relationships with families are handled overall.The condition of the restrooms was another major concern. My son often avoided using them because they were so unclean. He reported food thrown into toilets, feces in urinals, no soap available at times, and restroom doors without functioning locks. That raises serious concerns about both hygiene and student privacy. No child should feel uncomfortable using the bathroom at school.I do want to mention something positive — the office staff members are very friendly, especially Stephanie, who was always kind and welcoming.Ultimately, due to these repeated concerns, I made the decision to homeschool my son, and it has been a great experience for our family.
