Read what parents are saying about Our Lady Of FatimaThis school is a nice, safe, family-friendly environment. Great sports program. Flourishing drama ministry. Caring principle (who doubles as the middle school history teacher). Parent involvement is huge here, so if you love to lead and plan events, then you'll be popular here. There's no health office/school nurse. If your child gets sick and throwing up, she will have to be there at the main office where everyone, including other students, teachers and visitors can see her. No school psych, counselors, special ed teachers or special ed classes or any interventionist of any kind. So if your child is a special needs child or possibly needing an evaluation, you won't get help here. Their hot lunch program is good. $6.50- $7.50 per lunch. A bit pricey. Parents must pay for everything: field trips, students' and teachers' supplies, sports fees ($200), Tech fee, Musical fee if your child participates in the musicals, Science camp, fee for not attending mandatory parent meetings in the middle of a school/work week, etc. And you must volunteer a total of 40 hours; a fee per hour you are short applies. But if you volunteer for fundraising that doesnt benefit the whole school, you wont get hours for it. It's all become very exhausting. I can't really say if their education is great. They claim to be advanced but i have nothing to compare it to. Elementary and middle school kids must take ELA, Math , Science, history/social studies, religion, PE, praise and worship, art, and music. Although they don't have instruments for the kids, they do teach them a little bit about music theory. If your kids don't get burned out, all these classes can really prepare them for the rigors of high school. They utilize a differential learning method, where kids are divided into categories based on their mastery of a subject. Except for TK and kinder, the students have different teachers for different subjects. They post grades online through a portal. That's their excuse for not alerting you if your child is failing a class. You should be checking the portal. It's not the teachers responsibility to intervene if your child is failing, right? They tell you that parents are the primary educators. This makes me consider homeschooling my kids. On a good note, the best thing about our time here was 2nd grade. The beautiful, private, and sentimental 1st Communion ceremony was so special.
Posted by a parent on 2/1/2020Great environment, kids learn a lot. Many Extracurricular activities like Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Science Camp etc. They learn Discipline, Leadership skills which makes them confidence in future life. We highly recommend OLF to everybody we know.
Posted by a parent on 9/16/2019Don't get deceived. The school doesn't compare to other real private catholic schools. This is not the real deal. The curriculum is also way behind other private schools and public schools. What a shame. You are paying for uniforms, service hours and religion. Not saying religion is not important… that’s why we came here but we thought our child would be advanced because the expectation would be better. The staff is not nice. The principal is mean and has poor bedside with parents and has no compassion for the children. The teachers don't have time for your kids unless your kid is the one struggling... so if your child is excelling- they are stuck helping the kids that need it. First time at this school and we are looking for another private school. For the amount they are charging... there are other better ones for equal if not less.I forgot to mention, a parent told me last year, the principal gave parents service hours for writing reviews on yelp, great schools, facebook... Really?!

Posted by a community member on 9/10/2016I graduated from OLF in 1968. I attended the school from 2nd - 8th grade. I had a great experience while at Our Lady of Fatima. When I attended the school every other year we had one of the Sisters as a teacher the other years we had a lay person. Not only did I grow educationally but also spiritually. I am happy to see that OLF continues on.l

They have a PTA and they are very welcoming and answer any questions that you have. This wasn't my first choice school but I am very glad we came here. My girls are doing great academically and are very happy here.Parent Review8mo ago - Carver (Charles J.) Elementary School

It has been reported to the principal but they ignored her and did not take my niece seriously. I do not recommend this school they need to take bullying more seriously for the safety of the children.Other Review1y ago - Juarez (Benito) Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is assigned school to my address. When I saw 7/10 on GreatSchools, I was worried if I am sending my kid to a mediocre school. But this school is far superior than what you can imagine. The teachers are amazing, sharp, focussed and very detailed. they know each kid very well and know their strengths and weaknesses. Highly recommend this school to everyone and making my effort to attract more school of choice applications to my child's school :)Parent Review1y ago - Leal (Frank C.) Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs both my daughters started at Leal Elementary last year for the first time from a different country, the school has been so nurturing and welcoming! Amazing staff and my daughters adjusted to their new routines in no time. The girls love to go to school and their progress is amazing. Blessed to have my daughters go to Leal.Parent Review3mo ago - Niemes (John H.) Elementary School
