Elliott (William F) Elementary School

Don’t recommend it! The staff is so rude

My daughter moved to Carver from West Covina Unified School District, and she struggled to catch up with her classmates but after bit she got better because of her teachers patients with her. Most of the teachers are very nice and helpful. I would recommend it.

I am extremely disappointed by the school’s ongoing failure to adequately address the bullying and mistreatment my student has experienced from both classmates and, concerningly, some staff members. We have repeatedly raised these concerns, only to be met with dismissive responses and a lack of meaningful follow-through. We are often told the matter is being “looked into” or “investigated,” yet the behavior persists. Whatever efforts have been made have been inadequate, as we have not seen meaningful resolution, effective intervention, or preventative measures that have stopped the behavior from recurring.I am particularly concerned by the lack of responsibility, regard, and accountability demonstrated in how these concerns have been handled. The adults entrusted with students’ safety and well-being have a responsibility to take concerns seriously, respond appropriately, follow through, and take reasonable steps to protect students. From our experience, those responsibilities have not been adequately fulfilled. My student now comes to school worried about their safety and whether they will be bullied or mistreated instead of being able to focus on learning. They no longer feel they can trust the adults around them to protect them, listen to them, or take their concerns seriously. Students should be able to come to school to learn, not fear for their safety or worry about being bullied throughout the day.Their own teacher has also provided limited support and responsiveness in our experience. The learning environment has not felt particularly supportive or enriching, with substantial amounts of work, frequent reprimands, and little meaningful encouragement. There has also been little apparent regard for how the ongoing bullying and mistreatment has affected my student’s ability to feel safe and focused at school. When families send their students to school, they entrust the school and its adults with their safety, well-being, and education. That trust comes with a responsibility. Based on our experience, the school needs to do more to fulfill that responsibility, take concerns seriously, follow through, and ensure that appropriate adults are accountable for providing a safe and supportive learning environment. Students come to school to learn, not to fear for their safety.

I had very high expectations for Nixon. My children loved their teachers and enjoyed going to school. We decided to take our three children out of the ABC school district, and public school altogether as we feel that our children would benefit more from private charter. I felt that Nixon was very unorganized when it came to drop off and pick ups, I felt that the events were unorganized as well. I think they can help families more with smaller classrooms or extra help in classrooms with 20 or more students. Don’t expect to hear from anyone in the office when calling, they do not answer calls. The best way to communicate with anyone is via email. It’s no wonder why more parents have been pulling their children out and placing them in private or home schooling.
