Read what parents are saying about Kyrene de la Sierra SchoolThis is a school with a very high academic level, with excellent, well-prepared teachers who have a lot of experience. The students have a lot of work during the week, and the teachers know how to maintain their attention and discipline. The curriculum is excellent, and I see my son, who is in second grade, learning happily and consistently. In the classrooms, there is respect, cordiality, and a learning environment. The homework is well thought out, challenging the children without overwhelming them. This school also offers great extracurricular and sports activities, and the atmosphere is excellent.I highly recommend this school.
Posted by a parent on 5/12/2023My daughter graduated 2 years ago but I thought I'd add a more recent review. She had a great academic experience and I loved a night when the 5th graders do a presentation and dress up as their favorite historic figure. It was wonderful and the kids go out of their way. Outside of this, there aren't plays or a lot of activities outside of the standard academic learning. But all and all, she did really well and was able to make a pretty easy transition into 6th grade.
Posted by a parent on 7/10/2021We had two kids at this school and it was a great experience. We should have never moved our second child to Monte Vista for their self-contained gifted program. Sierra is way better, if you are considering Monte Vista as well.
Posted by a parent on 4/5/2019I have 2 children at this school. We have had the best experience I could ever imagine. The atmosphere that is created makes a huge difference. I can not imagine my children any where else. I encourage everyone to come take a tour and feel what we feel
Posted by a parent on 5/23/2018Kyrene de la Sierra, in short, has been a great school for all three of my kids. All three currently attend Sierra and I have watched them grow and blossom while at the school. My two oldest daughters have developed a thirst for learning and for trying new things and acquiring new schools. I directly attribute that to the dedication of their teachers, and to all of their teachers. My son is a special needs child, but Sierra gives him a caring, nurturing and patient environment where his ability to express himself and communicate with others has drastically improved. Most importantly, all of my three kids like going to school in general. They are keeping up with children who attend charter and private schools. They do have opportunities to learn and develop outside the classroom in specials ranging from spanish to chorus to track. If you are considering schools for your child, I would strongly urge a close look at Sierra. My kids have benefited greatly from attending and I believe it is a great environment for learning.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school seems to be going down hill, and this school year (2013-14) sadly it is only picking up its speed. It is a good school overall with a good staff and the principle who is in her 2nd year here is showing more leadership than the previous one and is present. PTO has been struggling but this year's staff is great and active, I only have good things to say about them. The parents, on the other hand, have been so sub-par. Not to mention that we hardly see parent volunteers on campus but also the driving habits and parking lot behaviors are appalling. The school is going to be a dual language academy starting from 2014 school year, and I only hope that will being more enthusiastic, responsible and involved parents and families with real commitment to this school community.Parent Review10y ago - Kyrene Monte Vista

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBest elementary school in Ahwatukee. We've been here for 5 years now, and wouldn't change a thing. Engaged, caring teachers and a dedicated administration. Our oldest is in middle school, and thriving with all A's in advanced classes, which we attribute to the exceptional preparation at KMV.Parent Review1y ago - Kyrene De La Estrella Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is great. I would have preferred 4.5 stars but 5 is fair. The teachers that we have encountered are compassionate and caring and the front office staff is also very kind. That is not to say that everything is perfect, as we have had issues regarding very very late bus drop offs and other administrative things like the office not calling or notifying for some things. However, the safety of the school, the communication from the teachers, and the academic rigor is what pushes me to give this school such a high rating. We are very grateful that our children go to this school and to see the progress our children have made in such a short time while being at the school coming from out of district has been very eye-opening- in a good way!Parent Review1y ago - Montessori Educare Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughters attended preschool here from 2012-2014 and it was the best experience. They had phenomenal teachers in the 3 and 4 year old program who truly cared for them and helped them receive a good foundation for elementary school. There is an early drop off for kids whose parents have to work before the regular class time begins and my daughters LOVED this extra play time at school. The teachers who ran that program were amazing as well. There are also many opportunities for family involvement with fun activities on nights/weekends as well as fun activities during the school day: Halloween Carnival, petting zoo coming to school, puppet theatres and more. Such a wonderful experience!Parent Review7y ago - Ahwatukee Foothills Montessori

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child has been attending since 2020 and will be graduating in the spring. Students thrive at their own pace with great teachers in a welcoming environment. Long time staff, prompt communication (esp during 2020), effective curriculum, and total transparency are only a few things that contribute to the trust we have! The staff's care, professionalism, and commitment is even reflected in how the students treat each other. AFM is wonderful community to be a part of. We are so thankful for the impact it has had on our child's early development!Parent Review2mo ago
