Posted by a parent on 12/4/2018This school has it together! With all of the problems out there in the day to day school day, there is nothing negative that I can say about how this school runs. The entire staff of teachers cares about their children, not just academically, but in all aspects. Teaching them to be leaders!
Posted by a parent on 10/24/2016I can't safe enough good things about this school! My daughter started going to Cerritos in 1st grade, but not after having toured a few schools, including Sierra. She was coming from a small, private school and we were concerned about entering the "big public school". Those fears melted away the moment we stepped on campus to tour the school for the first time. There is a since of warmth immediately. Prinicipal DiCosma gave us a wonderful tour, and we were incredibly impressed by the children who greeted us and shook our hands to welcome us. We were blown away! They value character development which was so important to me. Being a compassionate, KIND person is just as important as the academic side, and they cover all bases! We are thrilled that we chose Cerritos. The children are so kind, and we have loved all staff members we have been in contact with. We will be starting 3rd grade when school resumes!
Posted by a parent on 5/26/2016I have two daughters that are in 2nd and 3rd grade at Cerritos. My children feel safe, valued, and they are given an amazing amount of leadership opportunities. They love coming to school! The PTO is fantastic at this school and the community really supports the school. The school is great about sending out weekly newsletters via email and the teachers are great about keeping parents informed. This school is a Leader In Me school and their lighthouse status is something to celebrate. Go Roadrunners!
Posted by a parent on 10/23/2015This is a quality school in a great neighborhood. Lots of parent involvement and School spirit! The one area of concern I have always had at Ceritos is The principal. No follow through with staff or parent concerns, never seen at pick up or drop off, never seems to be in attendance at after school events, does not seem to have a loving emphasis that is required for a grade school principal. She has a lot to learn about professional maturity.

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBest elementary school in Ahwatukee. We've been here for 5 years now, and wouldn't change a thing. Engaged, caring teachers and a dedicated administration. 10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a school with a very high academic level, with excellent, well-prepared teachers who have a lot of experience. The students have a lot of work during the week, and the teachers know how to maintain their attention and discipline. The curriculum is excellent, and I see my son, who is in second grade, learning happily and consistently. In the classrooms, there is respect, cordiality, and a learning environment. The homework is well thought out, challenging the children without overwhelming them. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is great. I would have preferred 4.5 stars but 5 is fair. The teachers that we have encountered are compassionate and caring and the front office staff is also very kind. That is not to say that everything is perfect, as we have had issues regarding very very late bus drop offs and other administrative things like the office not calling or notifying for some things. However, the safety of the school, the communication from the teachers, and the academic rigor is what pushes me to give this school such a high rating. We are very grateful that our children go to this school and to see the progress our children have made in such a short time while being at the school coming from out of district has been very eye-opening- in a good way!Parent Review1y ago - Montessori Educare Academy

Students thrive at their own pace with great teachers in a welcoming environment. Long time staff, prompt communication (esp during 2020), effective curriculum, and total transparency are only a few things that contribute to the trust we have! The staff's care, professionalism, and commitment is even reflected in how the students treat each other. AFM is wonderful community to be a part of.
