O'Connor Elementary School

We have had nothing but a positive experience with Entz since principal Pursley came on board. She knows the kids and is the right amount of friendly but means business. Those who complain, please please get involved! Sign up in the class rooms or for the after school events! Get to know the staff and kids! I promise Everyone here wants what’s best for them!! Also shout out to Ms. Cindy in the front office she’s the best!

Got bullied, teachers hated it people left me out mental issues left with anxiety and ADHD I got bullied until I was bleeding. Unacceptable for a school. I recommend Gilbert public district

I am deeply concerned about the apparent racial disparity in discipline at this school. A white student who allegedly threatened to kill students and teachers with scissors received only a four-day suspension, despite a history of concerning behavior. Meanwhile, my Mexican son received a 10-day suspension and additional consequences after his teacher took his personal notebook and gave it to the principal to read. When I raised concerns about racial bias, the principal did not deny it and only stated that she could not discuss another student’s discipline. I understand privacy rules, but the difference in consequences is alarming. I believe my son is being racially profiled, and I am requesting a formal review of the disciplinary decisions and policies.

Johnson used to be a great A+ school. Teachers and families stayed at Johnson. Now, teachers and long time families are leaving, due to poor leadership and closed door policies. Under the guise of "safety", parents are no longer welcome on campus. The new principal does not support teachers or families when behavior concerns are brought up (over and over again). Classrooms are no longer optimal safe learning environments and constantly interrupted by student behaviors that are not addressed under his leadership. There are no consistent and clear procedures and campus systems in place or followed. Teacher morale is poor, and more than half the staff has left in the 3 years that he has been principal.

Mendoza has been such a blessing for our family. As a parent, you always worry about those first few years of school, but the environment here is so warm and supportive. The teachers are incredible—they’ve managed to make learning fun while really challenging the kids to grow. I’ve already seen such a big change in my son’s vocabulary and his excitement for solving problems.I love that the "Mendoza Pup" spirit is more than just a slogan; the staff truly cares about raising kind, respectful kids. It’s a great community where my son feels safe to be himself and excited to go to school every morning. We are so grateful to be part of the Mendoza family!
