Mears Middle School

My child loves going to school here. He feels special and really loves every aspect of his learning. The teachers are very supportive to his learning style. The administrator has set the school up with a dedicated group of teachers who work very hard and care about the children. Decisions are made based on learning needs and teachers use best practices. I have experienced other schools in Anchorage and I am so happy my children go to this top-rated school now.

Principal talks a lot and I never get a turn to speak. I wish she would give as much energy to listening as she does for talking.

This school has implemented great ideals in my child, I had two daughters go through Gladys Wood one who needed Special Education classes and regardless of whether she was doing the on level grade work or not, every teacher made her feel included with the class and allowed her to participate and gain confidence in her abilities. They encouraged my younger daughters entrepreneurial spirit and also talk her valuable lessons in doing the right thing. I am glad to see this school is finally getting some upgrades as well. The teachers there are devoted to the children

I would rate this a 2 because most of the good teachers Quit so i would not recommend this school but the good thing are the 6th grade teachers are good so with the 4th but after all that i do not recommend this school it just depends

If you have a special needs child and want the peace of mind your child is safe, I do not recommend this school. If you have a child that is any way different from what the school believes all kids should be, I do not recommend this school. Horrible principle.
