Read what parents are saying about Kincaid Elementary SchoolIf you have a special needs child and want the peace of mind your child is safe, I do not recommend this school. If you have a child that is any way different from what the school believes all kids should be, I do not recommend this school. Horrible principle.
Posted by a parent on 5/18/2022This was once a wonderful school but the past 3 yrs under a new principal it has drastically declined. Staff are leaving and parents have stopped volunteering. Tragic. And the district is not listening to either parents or the staff about it.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child loves going to school here. He feels special and really loves every aspect of his learning. The teachers are very supportive to his learning style. The administrator has set the school up with a dedicated group of teachers who work very hard and care about the children. Decisions are made based on learning needs and teachers use best practices. I have experienced other schools in Anchorage and I am so happy my children go to this top-rated school now.Parent Review8y ago - Campbell Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has implemented great ideals in my child, I had two daughters go through Gladys Wood one who needed Special Education classes and regardless of whether she was doing the on level grade work or not, every teacher made her feel included with the class and allowed her to participate and gain confidence in her abilities. They encouraged my younger daughters entrepreneurial spirit and also talk her valuable lessons in doing the right thing. I am glad to see this school is finally getting some upgrades as well. The teachers there are devoted to the childrenParent Review8y ago - Turnagain Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTurnagain is a great school with amazing supportive staff and involved parents. The Russian Immersion program is particularly awesome, what a gift to learn a language in a natural and developmentally appropriate way. Our older child has loved every single teacher so far, our second child can't wait to start in the fall. We "won" the lottery at other charter schools but said no without a second thought.Parent Review8y ago - Northwood Abc Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNorthwood is a truly wonderful school. My son is in their special education Pre-K program, and they’re so supportive. When looking for a school, I didn’t want him to be expected to change to fit the environment. I wanted the environment to support his growth. I’ve found that here. They spend time figuring out what works best for each kiddo to help them meet their full potential. They even have a sensory room that was put together with the help of an occupational therapist for kids that need a break. My son’s teachers have always been nothing short of amazing. They communicate with me about his progress and if he needs help with something in particular, and while of course teaching is their priority they never put that over the well-being of their students. I wish I went here when I was a child, instead of being bullied by my 1st grade teacher lol. Northwood has a community and environment unlike anything I’ve ever seen at a school and it makes me so happy that my son goes here.Parent Review1y ago - Sand Lake Elementary School
