This is a charming school with a caring staff. The atmosphere is like a family and my sons get attention they would not get elsewhere. Because the classrooms are multi-leveled, my sons can advance at the pace by which they are ready. Although living rural has its own set of challenges, the school is a major bonus to the community.

Principal doesnt care or do anything about bullies. This is a crime. Teachers dont care about students who need extra help. Dont follow IEPs. Dont know how to work with kids with special needs. Not happy with Scenic at all.

Our son is now in 1st grade and we love this school. At the end of Kindergarten the students were able to read in 2 languages, write paragraphs in 2 languages and count over 100 in 2 languages. There are a lot of interventions to help kids who are having difficulties and for kids who are advanced adding another language is a great way to challenge them. The school uses positive behavior systems to encourage positive behavior and in the classroom the kids are supported not criticized or ridiculed. They implemented a plan to decrease playground fights and essentially eliminated it. This school is amazing, the principal, the teachers, the support staff, even the custodians are all amazing and enthusiastic about their jobs and their school. I am english dominant, but totally appreciate that this school allows spanish dominant parents the opportunity to really know what their kids are doing as everyone who works here is biliterate.

We have four children all of whom have very different personalities and learning needs. The teachers are incredible, and every year they take the time to get to know them, their learning needs, and push them to show “GRIT”—best effort, respect, and trying again if you make a mistake. Bullying is not tolerated. The principal leads with integrity and and wisdom, and he is an excellent role model. The teachers are experienced and empowered to lead specific to their class needs by the principal. Helping others and compassion for others is demonstrated by all. We are so happy to be a part of the Appleton family.

My kids love Rim Rock and all of it's staff. They have the best secretaries that make the school feel like home.

As a student in this school, I can say that this school is amazing. After struggling with falling grades, my family chose to enroll myself and my three siblings in the program. I have been with this school for years now and have enjoyed great academic growth. Involved parents, passionate teachers, and attentive advisors all contribute to not only my success, but many others. As a whole, we scored higher than the rest of our school district on standardized tests. One thing is important to know - this school requires work. Some families have joined looking for an easy option and left when they realized the responsibility and dedication that students and parents must have. But for those who committed to learning and willing to work hard for it, I promise that this school will equip students with an amazing education.

We have switched schools many times. This is our first school in Colorado. I have never had so many issues with a school. Everyday when I drop my kids off at school, I wonder which child the principal is going to call me about that day.

This school has some wonderful qualities, mainly the work the teachers do. Overall the administration and Board of Directors has made the environment so toxic and hostile it should be avoided.

my daughter is really happy at this school, the staff are all great people. teachers are good in communicating with parents and childrens are safe at the building.. really happy..the only concern my daughter has it is about the food Not good at all. she saids a lot a kids prefer to go back home with an empty stomach after a long day at school because they do not like the lunch menu. hope they can do something about it. this will make it a 5 starz school.

I have 3 kids that go to chatfield ( 3,2, and kindergarten) and 4 more to start over the next few years, they have been in other schools around the valley and i wouldn't put them in any other school. I love the teachers and staff. My children and I feel they are safe there. My children had struggled before they went here and they have excelled far beyond what we could imagine.

This school is as good as the effort that families put into it. The burden of the education is solely on the student and learning coach shoulders, which a parent knows full well when registering for this school. There is a lot of support from certified teachers, but ensuring that the student gets the full benefit of this excellent curriculum is, once again, the learning coach's responsibility. As long as the guardian knows that when signing their child up for this school, it is an excellent alternative to brick and mortar schools. I think it's unfortunate that "Greatschools" gives this school a 1 rating when it obviously has no information to go on. No test scores (really a poor way to rate a school anyway), no information on enrollment, students, teachers, or programs. Really with the lack of information, this school shouldn't be on their list. Something else to be mindful of, is that this school is largely used by families who felt that their child was not performing well in brick and mortar schools. We should be looking at growth as the main indicator of whether or not this is a good school.

Dos Rios Elementary School is a wonderful school with the best possible principal and teachers. Why even the gardener does a better job than the other schools. NO reason to be only rated at a 3. This is wrong wrong wrong. A strong 10 is what it should be. Lots of minority students deficient in English but somehow they learn a lot during the year. Current tests are a joke. They do not really measure what the student is learning and from what begging point they learned. At Dos Rios kids learn to love school and try harder. That is what really counts in the real world.

I had a wonderful experience today. My grandson invited me to the Veteran's Day breakfast. I was overwhelmed with the way the students treated all us veterans with respect and dignity. I truly felt appreciated for my service and was delighted with the way all the students interacted with every one of us Veterans. Thank you for having us and for making my day with this great experience. Jim Brown, MSgt, USAF (Retired)

I felt the teachers were very caring! They have a lot of structure to their homework and are in constant communication with parents. We moved and my kids started a new school in an area of town that is more "prestige" and yet the school is no where near as good. I am looking into changing schools, because I want the best for my children.

Exceptional school. The small school builds a solid sense of community - and accountability in the learners. School uses performance based learning to keep everyone engaged and truly learning at their own pace. Wish it went past 5th grade!

Our school isn't perfect and it isn't for everyone, but our family is grateful to be a part of it and know it to be an enriching environment for our kids. As a newer charter school, it has experienced ups and downs but the community is strong and I genuinely believe in the vision.
