5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHonestly, I'm a senior here and I've been with this school since freshman year and I've got some things to say. The schools "block schedule" is pretty long and it gives the students the mindset of the fact that they can't complete work in a 30-40 min period and need an hour and 20 mins to do a thing. The lunch sizes are more for a 2nd grader, we're teens we need more fuel than a 8 year old. I did notice I was able to wear my hat without getting in trouble, but never told us why that changed. I do remember there was a hard lockdown all over a food fight and I don't think anyone thought there was a food fight. They used to have a phone policy, but no one's really making us follow it anymore, especially after the pandemic. *Homework*Some say that they never give out homework, but it does depend on the teacher. *Learning*This one's a 50/50. They did downgrade the Video Production program (e.x. The 3's were learning things that the 1's should know more than us.), I heard they're removing personal finance math (which why....), and sometimes the lessons aren't so engaging that I'm just bored for the hour and 20 mins. *Social-emotional support*I haven't had much experience with this so I can't really comment.*Special Education*I personally have an IEP and I feel like they do a pretty good job on accommodating me with my IEP, although the teachers haven't really helped too much.*Safety*Sometimes, I do feel unsafe coming here. It's more about if a fights gonna happen because I remember when 2 kids were fighting, the most they did was spray pepper spray at everyone and I was right there where it happened.Student Review1y ago - Whitney Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile my son attended pre-K here for a short amount of time I was disappointed one day when I decided to volunteer in my sons classroom. My son was noted by child find to have a developmental delay and as his mother I can see my son has a short attention span. While being in the classroom they let my son wonder and his teacher told me that they just let him go. Was hurt to see he wasn’t learning by any of the 4 teachers in his classroom.Parent Review5y ago - Francis H Cortney Junior High School

"there's a big dog park minutes away and a lot of people go to this park it's a community base thing,,....,.,"

"Some decent, well kept apartments and condos, great value for the money, being only 20 minutes from the Strip. Houses are super nice, again for the price. I wouldn't recommend letting young/teen aged kids roam too much. There's a certain sketchy vibe (but not so bad you want to stay away...) because of Boulder Hwy, like any busy suburban road way now a days. Overall, recomommend the Henderson/Whitney areas."

"Don’t let your kids out by themselves because Boulder highway is a very busy street. Also make sure your children are hanging out with the tight crowd."

"Area is clean and right a elementary school. However some ppl in the neighborhood dont keep it clean! The propblem I had was the walking guards in front of thr school, they are retired cross guards that dont let the cars go after the school kids crossed,, they make u wait forever, to go! nevertheless its okay not bad a little graffiti and bars on some if the houses."
