5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile I believe this school has excellent extra and co-curricular options for students such as no pay-to-play sports, robotics, music, theatre, and dance, the school is very economically and racially segregated. Most of the honors/ap classes are a majority white with only 2-3 minority students. These classes are also a majority middle class students. The regular stream of classes is where most of the black students, and low income students are. These students are less prepared and left at the wayside while the school tries to promote itself as a progressive district that cares for the arts. The school and neighborhoods are very lgbqt+ tolerant I have rarely heard of bullying occurring at Ferndale. This school needs to do better at supporting its low income students and not discriminate against students coming in from Detroit by refusing to enroll them in Honors classes.Parent Review4y ago - Ferndale Upper Elementary

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJFK is a dream come true. A school filled with smart, creative, polite, kind children, caring, hard working, happy and appreciated teachers and staff, AND parents who gladly volunteer their time! Other schools should take note. This is what public education should be! Go Eagles!Parent Review10y ago - Ferndale Lower Elementary Campus

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe feeling of community we’ve experienced as part of Ferndale Schools has been incredible. Parental involvement is very high, and school involvement in community events only strengthens the bond. I’m thrilled with every aspect of my kids’ education at Ferndale Lower.Parent Review4y ago - Check out schools near 23261 Rensselaer St.

"We were pleasantly relived to discover this neighborhood is safe, hospitable, and enduring. Each house has its own personality which is refreshing opposed to the cookie-cutter variety neighborhoods. Happy to see Oak Park added new kid-friendly and dog friendly parks in 2019. A nice walk or short bike ride to downtown Ferndale or even downtown Berkley as well. "
