Ferndale High School

I can't say enough great things about Key Elementary school. We moved here from Florida about 3 years ago where my kids attended a private school. I was worried about if my kids would thrive at a new school, 1,000 miles from home! Well, they are thriving and they love their school. Their grades are great and their teachers are excellent. I can't say enough great things about the administration, Ms. Shana Murphy is an excellent principal who takes the time to know all her students (by name) and their parents! They have many meetings and events where parents can get involved. Great school!!

The teachers here are very disrespectful and sometimes even put there hands on the kids. One day a teacher pulled a students chair and made them fall out, rarely get homework, way to many breaks for unnecessary reason, they have a therapist but they don't keep up with weekly schedule and forget about it. Don't bring your kids here, just send them to Bates or anywhere else. Teachers even curse at students.

It is extremely hard to communicate with teachers. My kid has been at this school for 5 years and over the 5 yrs only 2 teachers have communicated properly & that is the 4th/5th grade teachers Mrs.Williams & Mrs.Lewis. Also I can honestly say the principal Mr.Baily is very supportive of parents, students & teachers. He is very hands on and communicates well.

We have been at this school for 6 years and counting (among my 3 children) and have had a very positive experience, especially with current leadership. The teachers are all amazing, and have a good mix of diversity to meet the needs of a diverse student population. There is a tight community among the students with the way the Montessori program is setup with mixed age classrooms and also the reading buddies program where older students are paired with younger classrooms for reading time. I think this helps reduce the chances of bullying, along with support from the teachers and staff to encourage positive behavior. The parents are also very engaged and we have a strong and active PTA that continues to expand to help offer more programming and more resources for the school, which has been amazing to see over the years. A strong and active PTA is always a good sign of a thriving school. We feel lucky to live close to P3A for my children to be able to attend this amazing school.
