4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been at East since September 2016. It is his first year and he likes the school and his teachers. He loves the different courses that they offer, which is important for students. The only problem that I have with the school is that they offer science, English and math as the last three classes, in that order. I have asked my sons counselor and the principal if these classes could be taken earlier in the day. I was told that there are other math, English, and science classes earlier in the day but my son could not take the earlier classes. I have had to go to the school several times because my son has asthma but was not using his inhaler at school. I asked the principal and the teacher of his last class if they could remind him to use his inhaler. I sat in class and witnessed him coughing and struggling to breath. I asked the principal again if my son could be reminded to use his inhaler. I explained that he would not be able to comprehend what was being taught if he could not breath properly. I feel that my son is not important to them and they don't really care if he learns or not. I asked if he could get help with math through a program that helps children with math in their WIN class. They said that it is for select students as are the earlier math, English, and science classes. What has to happen for my child to be important enough to be a "SELECTED STUDENT"? The school offers a variety of courses that children are interested in and those courses are offered earlier in the day, however, the courses that are important are important for kids to succeed in high school and enter college are given a back seat. Maybe it is the "SELECTED STUDENTS" that will succeed because their education is set up for them to succeed. They get the important courses earlier in the day and special math help in their WIN classes. I felt like I was being blown off because I was complaining that my son couldn't breath in his last classes of the day. The school is a nut free school which is good for children with nut allergies but I guess asthma is not a high priority on the list of life threatening allergies.Other Review7y ago - Farmington High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have to question the leaders of this school and this school board. The teachers themselves, in my opinion, are very, very good. My daughter played three different sports. I question the integrity, character and motivation of the all the Varsity coaches that she played under. Where is the school leadership and what are they evaluating when it comes to coaching? They don't do exit interview with student athletes. They disregard parent concerns. When they do meet with parents, they use intimidation methods. So stand your ground and don't let them do this to you.On to the next observation. The school passes out computers, which is really nice, but the computers are old and in terrible condition. So when your student gets one you can guarantee that something will go wrong, for example, computer screen cracking, keyboard sticking, keyboard buttons coming off, etc., be prepared to pay for these quote "damages". The individuals in charge of this are rude and lack character. If you plan on going to this school, get everything in writing from any administrator you talk with about any of your concerns and the answers they give. If you don't, they will deny it or not relay the information given, or even " not remember" talking to you about it. Maybe I think differently, but when young people make mistakes, I find it as an opportunity to educate them! I felt the administration just didn't want to deal with things or the way they dealt with things didn't seem educational. They need to start doing what is right, and stop worrying about if they are going to get sued or bad press. If you are a parent, you must remember you are judged on your students behavior. So please take in consideration if your student is disrespectful, not well mannered, and/ or disruptive, you will get no respect from this administration. It is probably like this at most schools, so be sure your student is taught well at home. You as a parent, also must be understanding on what all these teachers go through on a daily basis. Too many of our students are poorly raised. This is recognized and now is the norm. As a parent, your already behind the eight ball going in. I gave this school a one star rating based on my daughters and our own personal experience and observations as parents of a student-athlete.Parent Review2y ago - J.A. Lanigan Elementary School
