8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageKensington Parkwood is a diverse, vibrant, and flourishing community where children have the opportunity to receive world-class education with cutting edge curriculum from teachers who are dedicated and talented. The school has strong leadership from an outstanding and positive Principal. You will often see her at pickups and dropoffs and whenever there is a need for community engagement, she is out front and taking feedback. She is flanked by an incredible staff who seem able to teach the entire spectrum from children in need of special attention to the gifted program. The library is strong. The counselors are strong. The front office is strong. Security team is strong.I have not yet met a parent who was dissatisfied with the school. Our son is in 5th grade and our daughter in 3rd and we've been with the school all the way! In fact, this satisfaction is in part driven by strong parent engagement with the school. The PTA is motivated, helping to help with all kinds of extras from a running club to environmental programs (composting, campus clean-ups, and fun school gatherings to name a couple). The student body is diverse. Many ethnic backgrounds are well-represented as well as well as families come from around the world. The school hosts an international night and the sheer number of countries represented by flags of the world is staggering and inspiring. It seems there is a place for everyone. The building is beautiful with lots of windows and many recent renovations that have modernized it.Parent Review6mo ago - Walter Johnson High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageReally bad experience for my son. He was introverted and needed support. Social scene awful. Too big. Not enough attention. Academics strong. Emotional and social support terrible. I should have pulled my son out. Tough tough place!Parent Review4mo ago - North Bethesda Middle School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI personally don't like this school because first they are not strict enough and the students can be mean and bully you. They do have a dress code, but don't enforce it, so what is the point of having it. Some students can be very disrespectful to teachers and their peers. They talk back when they don't like something, they talk bad about other people, and they think it is funny to prank or do their little dirty tricks on people. And sometimes the teachers don't even do anything about it. The school/teachers let the students say bad words. Ok to be fair, teachers are nice, but that does not make up for the other parts. If you are thinking about going to this school, I 100% do not recommend you to go to this school.Student Review9mo ago - Check out schools near 4409 Westbrook Ln.

"Parkwood was built in the late 50's. The Ride-On bus runs along Cedar lane. NIH and the Defense Medical Center (formerly Navy Medical Hospital) within walking distance as is the Metro subway station and the MARC commuter train in Kensington. An assortment of restaurants and stores (Safeway, Kensington Pharmacy, Hardware City, CVS and others are within walking distance. Savannah's, a sports bar and grill, is a great sandwich place. Parkwood is patrolled by the Montgomery County Police, but the neighborhood is quiet and the crime rate is very low. "
