Welcome to the historic Kern-Schmidt Mansion, now restored to its original splendor! This magnificent home with a southern exposure, combines the rich and elegant neoclassic architecture and design with the lively and bright style of the modern age. The stately presence, surrounded by a wrought iron fence sets the stage for the luxurious interior, as the entrance opens to the grand ballroom, now a large great room used as a living room and dining room combined. The ceiling is embellished with an intricate leather belt fan system, a functional work of art. A lovely over-sized fireplace with the original mantel and design graces this room as well. There are two waiting rooms on either side of the entrance, now used as "home offices", and both have floor-to-ceiling windows converted from the original doors. The kitchen, a professional chef's dream, has been expanded and completely remodeled with custom cabinetry, as well as colorful custom imported tile floors. High-end professional appliances include a Wolf range with Thermador hood, Miele dishwasher, built-in Sub-Zero refrigerator and separate built-in Sub-Zero Freezer, Sub-Zero two-drawer refrigerator, Miele custom professional espresso machine/coffee maker, wine cooler/beverage refrigerator and separate ice maker. There is a moveable entertainment bar that coordinates with the kitchen, perfect for entertaining, projects, or displays. Stairs from the kitchen lead to both the 2nd floor as well as the basement. The original library, now family room, can be found on the opposite end of this expansive home. It has a gorgeous stone oversized fireplace with French doors surrounding the room like windows; with an inset for built-in shelving or an art display. The sunroom graces the end of the home, bringing the outdoors inside. Large Pella windows and doors with integrated blinds lead to the expansive patio which surrounds the house itself and is perfect for relaxing or entertaining. Dual grand staircases lead to the 2nd floor of the mansion, housing all five bedrooms, and four full baths. The primary suite boasts a large bedroom with a spacious walk-in closet complete with built-in organizers. The exquisite spa bath provides an aquatic feel, with artisan tile flooring, a 1900's claw foot soaking tub, shower, two Stark stainless sinks and low voltage lighting. The windows are electric security windows that are clear or opaque with the push of a button (all light switches are push button, reminiscent of the period)! The four additional bedrooms are generous in size; one is a mini suite. There is also a loft on this level that could be used as a reading area, an exercise area, or whatever one might choose. Finally, the walkout lower level has a large recreation room with a full bath, as well as a generous laundry room. There is a workshop, and a room with a magnificent stone fireplace, ready to be finished. This level of the home is as interesting as the rest. This is where the horses were originally housed; and it is now a heated area which shelters the air conditioners and serves as great storage space. The three-car garage is generous as well; and leads directly into the home through this area. If this isn't enough, this local landmark with over 6500sf of finished living space, the Kern/Schmidt Mansion, is situated on just under an acre of land where hundreds of parties have been held, and memories made. Continue the memories here at 300 Lexington Court as you make it your own.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWonderful school! Teachers, administrators, and staff care so much for the students. I never had emotional issues (that needed immediate attention) but I know others who did and when I told an adult they would immediately act on the situation. I would change my mind all the time about my schedule and my counselor would make all the changes I wanted and was very understanding. The school is very clean. If anyone complains about the cafetera being dirty it’s because student’s DON’T clean up after themselves and think their mom’s are going to come to the school and clean for them. I was fine with the cafeteria food, I got free lunch anyways. Conant has all the activities and clubs you could possibly think of and if there is something you are interested and they don’t have it, it’s very easy to start a club, you just need to ask! I love how engaged administrators and staff were. Also, I don’t understand why people complain about parking pass being expensive. That is clearly a privilege and a luxury in high school that not everyone needs! I took the bus all four years and I had no issue with it, it did not affect my development as a teenager. I was grateful for my school and have no complaints. I graduated with good grades and I was an average student.Other Review2y ago - Lincoln Prairie School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHomework: They do give more homework than I’ve heard other schools give, however, throughout my years attending this school they have been decreasing the load as per parent complaints. I experienced a lot of stress with the homework load 4-8 grade, but time management and self advocacy were highly valued, along with student emotional/mental well-being, so I always received any adjustments I needed through compromise or simple communication. The content of the homework was really good. It wasn’t just worksheets and busywork, but creative projects and assignments that were very stimulating and dived deeper into the subject. Every assignment was to learn and understand, not just to have something to grade. For parents of future or current students of this school: when homework gets overwhelming, encourage your child to talk to their teacher about it or use it as an opportunity to teach productivity or time management. These are things the school heavily focused on, but it still took time for us to grasp the concept of being responsible our academic careers.Teachers: The teachers are excellent and very caring. They teach their classes well and are always open to providing extra help with any challenges a student may have. Both academically and emotionally, these teachers are very supportive. Not every teacher and student can click, so if your child is unable to make a connection with one teacher, they are exposed to many other adults in the building that they can seek for help.Leadership and Character: Teachers and staff exhibit leadership and teach it to students. LP is very community-centric, so having and making leaders is critical. I left this school understanding that the main quality of a leader was not to attract followers, but to create more leaders. LP builds strong character in students by providing opportunities for self discovery and lots of role models in the community. They teach kindness, courage, and self-sufficiency.Learning Differences: Accommodations are always made for disadvantaged students. Students with learning differences always had teachers with them and were involved in classes, but students who just fell behind in class did not receive as much attention as they should have. Bullying: I didnt experience much first-hand, but I wont ignore that it was present in this school as much as any other school. Teachers take care of it when it’s reported and we have anti-bullying assemblies to combat it.Parent Review2y ago - Fairview Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is the worst school for a middle school. Fights happen almost everyday, smoking and drugs are a huge thing, and bullying is just not okay. I have a nephew that comes saying that he has told a teacher he has gotten bullied and they do nothing about it. Some students have weapons and hot lunches are cold and I heard that his mom talked to his school about his food allergies and the hot lunch people gave him an ice cream when he is allergic to dairy. Which he diden’t even order. I hear about daily fights that happen. Students are doing drugs and the punishment is normally a detention I hear. Which does nothing to help. This school is terrible.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 300 Lexington Ct.
