TRULIA INTRODUCES SPECIALIZED SEARCH EXPERIENCE TO HELP NEW YORKERS BETTER FIND RENTAL PROPERTIES

SAN FRANCISCO, February 5, 2014 –Trulia (NYSE: TRLA), a leading online marketplace for home buyers, sellers, renters, and real estate professionals, today announced a new specialized search experience that provides a much more efficient way for New Yorkers to find an apartment on the Web or Android device. With this new open markets feature, rental listings on Trulia will be streamlined, making the complex process of finding an apartment in Manhattan, Queens or Brooklyn, easier

New York City is one of several cities considered open markets.  In these cities, when renters search for an apartment online they are typically faced with an overwhelming number of duplicate listings. This is because in open markets, different agents and brokers can represent the same listing and post it online.

“With hundreds of thousands of rentals on the market everyday, combing through listings is a daunting task and duplicate listings create added stress when finding a place to live,” said Paul Levine, Chief Operating Officer for Trulia. “With our new specialized search experience, we have simplified the search process for New Yorkers, and have made finding a rental apartment easier. We’re starting with New York City as it is the largest rental market in the U.S., and plan to expand this technology to other markets throughout the year.”

The Trulia Open Markets listings feature will solve a pain point for renters in three ways:

  • Complete Property Details: Everything is now in ONE place – from big beautiful HD photos provided by the agents and brokers to complete listing descriptions – apartment hunters are greeted with a fuller, more complete representation of the apartment on Trulia. They will no longer need to weed through a slew of duplicate listings of the same rental property posted by different agents and brokers.
  • Upfront Fee Disclosures: With a fee or no fee button in place, apartment hunters will know right away if they need to pay to work with a certain agent or broker. They can also compare fees for all the rental agents or brokers within the listing.
  • Review Multiple Agents: Apartment hunters can toggle between different agents or brokers on one listing to see each of the different agents’ or brokers’ profiles. This helps the user to select the right agent or broker.
