"It’s easy access to the freeways and to downtown Tacoma and there’s access to public transportation."

"There is a public park near by that is great for walking and an actual dog park within walking distance. There are sidewalks also which is nice"

"A very nice area to live in and I've definitely liked a small house And it will be good for my father a fence didn't yard I think you will love that his grand kiss convinced him making the other all in the back And he is 67 years old I think that would be a nice little house for him"

"Sadly, I don't have anything positive to say about South Tacoma. The politicians have allowed the city to decline to a point where it's dangerous, filthy, and an eye sore. "

"There are a lot of places to take your dog for a walk, or neighborhoods to walk your dog in. That may be one of the best parts of living here is so many people have dogs. "

"It’s close to the freeway which is nice because I travel 50 miles for work. Easy in and off the freeway is extremely helpful. There are also several bus stops and public transportation is popular in this area. "

"I have lived here in this neighborhood since 2017 and have lived on the east side since 2011. Pretty much as safe neighborhood, very diverse and always had friendly neighbors. "

"The neighborhood has great pockets of people all around! This place has really improved over the last 5 years. The area is nice and central to safeway and costco! The schools are also improving by a lot!! This is definitely a great place for many to afford. I appreciate the peace and love from all the neighbors offer. It has it perks!!"

"I've been here over 16 years. it's an old neighborhood, with some quirk now and then. But it's just like every other part of Tacoma. You need thick skin, and a big heart to here."

"The clearly paved trails for walking, biking, running. Open and safe areas. Well kept landscaping I run daily/nightly often finding myself dodging dog poop here and there. "

"It’s quiet for the most part accept for the police sirens and the drug users. Not very clean because of littering in some areas but not bad in others. "

"The other dogs are running around by themselves not with their owners. People try to keep their yards nice. "

"Make sure someone’s home when packages arrive, I’ve had multiple packages stolen from my porch. I have to add special instructions for my packages to be hidden and out of plain sight. "

"it is a short and easy commute downtown and my commute across town is also easy since I only go 8 miles tho bike trails that actually connect would be awsome"

"Dogs seem popular and welcome, most neighbors have dogs and take care of and clean up after them. Some dog owners may find that there are too many dogs in this neighborhood "

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have now had kids in this school for the last 8 years. There have been alot of ups and downs. The first principle was fantastic. He was loud, assertive, and brought joy to every student that crossed his path. When he retired we were left with a meek, rarely outspoken priciple who rarely reached out to parents or intereacted with kids. Over time she had gotten better about talking with the kids but her meek nature still persists. The front office has litterally the kindest woman i have ever met. Dont ever change Diana. Every last teacher has been fantastic with my two daughters. The non-educational staff are fantastic role moddles and are a pleasure to be around. Covid was a bit of a challenge for the online stuff but my daughter's teacher did a fantastic job maintaining order and teaching her students what needed to be taught. I have watched the old school get torn down and built back up. This school is a hidden jem for sure.As for the Special Ed ranking i have no experience with it so i cant properly evaluate it.As for Safety i ranked it as a 4/5. because even though they added a security system for the school it very much could use an officer pressent daily. in my 8 years the school has had 15-20 shooter scares(1 not so much a scare and 5 of them were post school security upgrade) and 3 deranged drug users wandering onto the school grounds after climing the school fences. we have only had one "parent on parent" physical incident.the only gripes i have for this school is its waste system seems to vent poo stank right in front of the main door to the left and none of the staff seem to know why that is. As well the parking area for parents is tiny. there is about 24 spots 6 disabled spots and 2 Ev spots. the parking area is also tied directly into the pick-up loop. this loop also stretches out of the school for about 2 full blocks shared between 3 directions. if you arent super early to get in line your going to be late picking up your kids. this makes me just park on the street and just walk up like quite a few other parents. there is so much wasted space on crapy quality dirt grass that could have had the loop be more of a "U" shape or even have the loop go out the back side of the school.Parent Review8mo ago5 Reviews - Fawcett Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child is on an IEP. I'm used to advocating for his needs and being disappointed with his educational experience. However, this past year at Fawcett was really my son's best year. He was excited about school and liked all of his teachers. I felt he was getting his needs met and was pleasantly surprised by the special education staff. The only complaint I have, is there was some bullying and unresolved issues with name calling and berating. Also COVID cut our year short but the teachers did a solid job with online instruction.Parent Review5y ago10 Reviews - Lister Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth of my girls love Lister! They love their teachers, they love the friends they have made and they seem comfortable in their environment. They learn a lot and a lot of the teachers are great at engaging their students and getting them to LOVE learning! However, as a parent I am disappointed with the lack of communication. There have been several incidents where Lister was on lockdown and parents were not notified. There was another incident where my daughter nearly walked off campus with a friend when she was supposed to be picked up by her father or myself. Other parents have complained that Lister sends their child off with their day care provider when they were supposed to be picked up by their parents. It seems too easy for our children to be put in danger at this school. The staff needs to work harder in ensuring students safety and communicating with parents. I understand there is a language barrier with some parents, but that's not excuse to not keep them informed of situations that are potentially dangerous.Parent Review10y ago1 Reviews - Lyon Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended here for half of his 2nd grade school year then I pulled him after he had been bullied for over a week and the staff did not tell me. I informed them of what was happening but my son was too scared to be honest to the counselor. His teacher was kind and put in a lot of effort with him but the lack of awareness and parent communication from the rest of the staff left my son at risk of physical harm.Parent Review4mo ago2 Reviews - Blix Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat teachers amaizing staff. Overall give this school a 5 out of 5. My daughters are happy girls at this school and I am grateful for the atmosphere it has everyone is really great. Their dual language program is the best for my kids learning abilities.Parent Review8y ago4 Reviews - Roosevelt Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy girls (K and 3rd) came home DAILY with stories of bullying and teasing. It got so bad that the youngest developed nightmares and would wake up screaming, "I don't want to go back! Don't make me go back". The teachers and staff are wonderful and seem to want the best for the kids, but the learning environment led me to pulling my kids out of the classroom and enrolling them in an online school.Parent Review9y ago5 Reviews - Sheridan Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe special education is atrocious and after years of fighting and only getting the very minimum of support we were forced to remove our student for their well being and safety. The special education director is horrible and doesn't understand mental and social disabilities. They do not have the resources needed for anything other than very minimal needs special education. If your child has special needs stay far away from this school. There is huge turn around in teachers and staff and no consistently at all.Parent Review5mo ago1 Reviews
