6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you are a present parent and you advocate for your child, this is not the school for you nor your child. Being a spokesperson/advocate will cause you to receive backlash from teachers and administrators at this school. This school is supposed to be a prestigious school under the umbrella of an Achievable Dream. However, the only dream that is Achievable is not for the students but for the school in that they try to recommend programs for the students so that they can receive money. Communication between some of the teachers and parents is sub par. Please do your thorough research before choosing this school to register your precious child into.Parent Review2mo ago9 Reviews - W.T. Cooke Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you want your children to succeed then please look straight past this school. The help is no help at all and I'm pretty surprised considering all the good things I've heard from this school. Need new staff and new people in general who actually want to work.Other Review2y ago7 Reviews - Birdneck Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former employee, I would not recommend sending your student here if you can help it. The school is not student centered at all. The staff does not have empathy for students or family or other teachers for that matter. This school does not seem to focus on student development. Its primary focus seems to be getting teachers and administrators promoted while making the day easiest for the adults. The communication is terrible. Sometimes the cause of the poor communication is lack of empathy, other times the lack of communication is due to flat out ignorance and pride. As a teacher, they attempted to ruin my career. I received evaluations with limited evidence to the findings. This building is extremely unprofessional, and no one is looking to improve it. They cover up broken policies and unsafe conditions. There are many unsafe conditions presented in that building. If your child must go here; my advice would be to check after the administration and teacher often, they will try to get away with a lot. Secondly, make sure you know how to contact your school board.Teacher Review1mo ago17 Reviews - Norfolk Christian Lower School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school does not teach children good citizenship. The children basically own the school and are allowed to run wild. I have seen the cafeteria. Older children are allowed to bully younger children. The younger children are bullied into giving up their lunches to older children and do not feel that they are allowed to keep their food. The teachers work tirelessly but the current administration does not support any of the teachers hi feel intimidated. Children are taught to judge others in negative and demeaning ways. If you are looking for a good private school, DO NOT put your child here. This is a lot worse then public school which my children have been in before. I had to take my child out if this school after older children continued to bully her and the administration refused to help her. This school does not teach discipline and respect. The teachers work tirelessly but the administration is a sham and very condescending to them as well as the parents.Parent Review10mo ago23 Reviews - Virginia Beach Friends School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe enrolled our daughter at Virginia Beach Friends School for 6th grade, drawn in by the promise of small class sizes and a culture built on kindness. Our experience did not reflect those values, and we withdrew her mid-year.With only six students in her class, we expected close communication from teachers. Instead, we had to initiate all contact ourselves. We eventually learned — only after requesting a meeting — that the school had been aware for months that the only other girl in the class was making daily threats of physical harm toward our daughter and openly discussing self-harm. We were never contacted about any of it.That meeting resulted in an action plan that the school never followed through on. In the weeks that followed — after we informed them we wouldn't be re-enrolling — our daughter was written up for minor infractions, and we received a Q2 report card with a D in PE, again without any prior communication from her teacher. The pattern felt retaliatory. We ultimately transitioned her to public school to finish the year. This school promotes kindness as its core value. In our experience, that did not extend to how they treated our daughter or communicated with our family. If you're considering this school, please ask hard questions about how they handle bullying and whether they follow through on commitments to families.Parent Review1mo ago57 Reviews - Beach Day School
