"My commute is excellent. I’m 13 minutes from work (I work in D.C.). I also live close to the metro and VRE if I wanted to use public transportation."

"We love Potomac West and specifically Hume Springs. A lovely and diverse townhome community close to everything, but still quiet and family friendly. "

"Friendly neighbors, lots of young families, infants to young kids. There are too many major traffic arteries for kids to play outside unattended, but there are a few good parks and playgrounds. "

"The public schools are not highly rated but most of the parents that send their children to these schools seem pleased. The admission process for private schools can seem intimidating but I think the experience will be rewarding"

"It’s gotten worse since Potomac yard was built up and Amazon will make it even worse. My commute time has doubled in the last 10 years to about 35-40 minutes."

"I've lived here for almost years. I have seen so much positive change. Nervous about the impact of the incoming Amazon invasion. Del Ray is the epitome of small town feeling. No chain restaurants or shops and a place that functions and feels like neighborhood. "

"I work from home and therefore have no commute. There’s good access to public transit in the form of busses to the metro stations in Crystal City and Braddock Road. The neighborhood however is reasonably quiet considering its proximity to Route 1. "

"Very active, family friendly neighborhood with nice neighbors and locally-owned businesses. Everything is very walkable with two Metro stops within a mile of the Del Ray neighborhood. Community events nearly every weekend in the Spring, Summer, and early Fall. The Del Ray Farmers Market is every Saturday from 8-12 pm. Love this great neighborhood. "

"It’s like living in Pleasantville. No crime, friendly neighbors, small businesses, and beautiful homes. What’s not to love?!? Del Ray is the best neighborhood in the DMV. "

"There is the perfect mix of amenities. There is shopping at Potomac Yard, restaurants in Del Ray, and bike paths and nature at Four Mile Run. I saw a Blue Heron there the other day, and people fish there every day. It’s a quiet neighborhood and very friendly. "

"I appreciate the diversity of the neighborhood. There’s a nice mix of working class and business professionals, folks are generally friendly, great restaurants from cheap to expensive and many one of kind places (the Nepalese restaurant that’s close by is to die for!)."

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter is in 2nd grade and has attended MVCS since Kindergarten. All her teachers have been wonderful -- attentive to her and responsive to any concerns we have. The dual language program was difficult in virtual school but she is accelerating again now that they have been back in person full time this year. We speak English at home, but multiple native Spanish speakers have commented to me that her accent is incredible. The early grades so far have not focused on homework, which we love -- kids receive books to read and are encouraged to do math activities, but no formal homework is assigned. Our daughter tests well, reflecting the great teachers at this school. MVCS has particularly focused on Social Emotional learning since the pandemic started, and the kids have a lot of tools for recognizing and regulation emotions, particularly stress. We hope this focus remains in place for the long run, as we really like it.Parent Review4y ago21 Reviews - Cora Kelly School for Math Science and Technology

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child looks forward to school every day. I am very pleased with learning progress in Kindergarten. My child went from not knowing how to read and write to reading on her own. Communications and processes are straightforward. Overall, it’s great!Parent Review3y ago18 Reviews - Immanuel Lutheran School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family’s ILS journey began ten years ago when we moved from a military assignment in Germany to new jobs in the Pentagon. We looked for a school in which our two young sons would be immersed in a Christian and academically challenging environment. Our comprehensive search landed us at ILS. Since then, both of our sons have graduated from ILS and their sister is halfway through her time. The ILS community has truly been a blessing for our family. We have found that ILS is more than just a school—it is a place where parents and faculty come together to build a rich environment for our children. In addition to a solid academic foundation, our children learned to show genuine love and respect to those around them, an outcome that in many ways is more important than academic success. We attribute much of our children’s maturity and academic excellence to their time at ILS. If you are considering a classical Christian education, we recommend ILS. We believe it has been an investment in our children’s future that will pay dividends in their own families and communities. Chris and Jen MulderParent Review9mo ago23 Reviews - St Rita School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have three young children at the school (1st grade, Kindergarten and 2s preschool program) and we have been so happy here. It's a beautiful, faithful, supportive and fun community; and the the teachers, administration and parents are generally well-aligned on mission. The pastor of the parish is very supportive and involved, and the teachers always go above and beyond. Although my kids are young, we've been appreciating the classical curriculum, and our older girls are reading very well. We love this school!Parent Review2mo ago33 Reviews - The Del Ray Montessori School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is ideal for families looking for a community and engaged teaching team for their child. The administrators are highly involved in every aspect of the school and works hard to train and maintain their highly qualified teaching staff. Our family started at the school as part of the Young Children Community for 18 months to 3 year old children. We found DRMS is the only school in the area that offers Montessori education to this age group. The community is adorable and the kids learn so much from the teachers and from the mixed ages within the class. We highly recommend this school and recommend you reach out to the school early to learn about their programs.Parent Review1y ago1 Reviews
