My granddaughter is in the third grade. She never has spelling test and doesn't even know how to spell the word (here) how is she supposed to be able to read without knowing how to spell. When I ask her to sound out the word here and then spell it her answer was hert. This is the saddest thing I have ever heard. No education in elementary school means it's going to be very hard for her to pass through Junior high and High School much less get into a quality College.
